I love bikes, but there is a saying...there are only two types of riders, riders that have gone down, and riders that will go down.
The triumph looks nice, but if you want a sport racer...get a Buell. Its made in Wisconsin U.S.A. It has many patients and innovations that the Japs don't. The gas tank is in the frame, the front break rotor is by the rim, not the hub (much larger = better stopping and cooling power). The oil can is in the frame. The reliability is the same or better than the Jap Crap, and you have the honor or riding something fellow Americans made and the profits stay here at a U.S. company, not some yellow skinned, slant eyed, foreigner, that bombed Pearl Harbour less than 62 years ago. You wouldn't buy a product from a terroist would you? |

Hehe, I wouldn't exactly call the Japanese "terrorists", after all, we did sorta use there country as a test platform for the "A" bomb.

Dang, I thought I could make that illiteration
I just wish everyone would support the U.S.A., we served the the military to protect everyones rights and freedoms. What are they using those freedoms for, to buy from foreign companies, many from past or future enimies, and putting Americans out of work. Heck, I'm even selling my Dodge Ram, because Chrysler is now German owned, and everyone knows what a bunch of sorry effervescent krauts they are. I better stop, before this turns in to a political thread... Oh buy the way Ironwood, trash the Triumph, and get a Buell. |

Papao55 you are right on it is a British bike (one of our allies, by the way).
And hey dtlilly don't buy a Nissan they are owned by the French if you didn't know. I have talked to a few of the local bike riders and they said that Buell's have a horrible reliability record I was looking into them when I saw the Triumphs. Thanks for your input though. Dave

I try to buy USA whenever I can.
I even put a bumper sticker on my truck that says "NOT MADE IN MEXICO" Some people just don't get it though. I am not that old but I still remember what the japs did. If people knew what they did to our POWs in WWII they might think twice.(Probably not) I tried to buy a engine crane not long back and of course could not get one made here. I fixed it though= I built one. I know that one is made in USA. I am building more and more things lately for the same reason. Quote:

Was this moved to the "Political" yet? Sorry to change the subject, but I like riding. I got into a wreck back in '98 when I was in college. I got T-Boned by a full size van taking a left turn and all of my emergency openings/lanes were full. Anyway, not preaching, just relating...kinda. Anyway, be careful and have fun. It looks like a neat bike. I am picking up my new bike this weekend in St. Louis (First big trip for the Truck!) Just don't forget your helmet. Let us know how the deal works out and post some picks when you get it!

As far as reliability. I don't know what kind of ya-hoos your getting advice from, but Buell actually has a better reliability and parts availability. Go ahead and buy the foreign POS, and when, (not if), it F's up, you will then know what I speak about. Mike76, I agree with you. I fought for America. When I see all the foreign POS being sold here, it makes me sick. It's un-American to not seek out products made here, even if the price is a little higher. Hey, maybe Ironwood can put a little American flag sticker on the Triumph, to show how proud he is to be American. |

dtlilly, I was wrong about the Buell's they were saying that about the Ducatti. I was looking into Buell but none of those bikes appealed to me, sorry if I have offended you in any way. I know how people get about buying American I just wish I had the money to do it 100% of the time, I truly would. I don't mind people thinking I am stupid but please don't patronize me on the board.

Ironwood,
I too am sorry if I offended you. I am very emotional when it comes to supporting America...even more so since I was on active duty, currently serve as a LT in the guard, and especially after 9-11. I myself can't buy everything made here, but make a consciencious effort to do so every chance I get. I wish you the best of luck, with whatever bike you choose to purchase, as you are the one that is paying your hard earned American dollar, and you are the one riding it. Safe riding, Don |

I say if you want it RIDE ON BROTHA!!! I was almost killed in a bike crash when I was 5, on with my Dad. Split my skull wide open. Well a shaved head a nice dent and 87 stiches later, I was ready to ride. Mom said as soon as I got home I was buggin Dad for a ride. Of coarse she made him sell it BLAH BLAH BLAH WAH WAH. When I hit 12 I started working and bought my own dirt bikes and pops sided with me, so I been riding since then. I had 6 different dirt bikes, & am on my 9th street bike a CBR 900RR. I moved to AZ from KS for the simple fact of the ride free law. I don't wear a BRAIN BUCKET!!! As for my family they are well taken care of, as I tell my wife I would rather be dead than have a helmet save me, leaving me paralyzed or something. Then she would have to care for me for the rest of her life. FU#* THAT!!!
Ride defensive and ride in your means. I got the NSANE nickname in KS for the sick a$$ **** I pull on a bike. As for the Speed triple, my buddy has one GREAT BIKE, passes on my wheelie meter, it has enough tourqe to pull phat 2nd gear wheelies.

I'm thinking that all new bikes are made from parts from different countries, I think Harley uses foregn made components also. So buy what you like and ride aware and sober. I been riding mostly vintage British and a few HD's for 30 years.I road raced and drag raced vibrating real Triumphs, 120 MPH on skinny tires and spoked wheels keep you honest. This is a 55 BSA A10 650 vintage style street racer I just finished. http://image1ex.villagephotos.com/pu...sp?id_=2209711

The engine for the V-Rod was developed in a lab in Germany in conjunction with Porsche.

That Brit bike looks like an excellent choice. Bikes have different flavors not everybike is for everyone. Safety is another concern here.
A few years ago I took a MSF course, that's short for Motorcycle Safety Foundation. I say here-here to the MSF. And for all you died in the wool riders out there, if you've never taken an expert riding course your only hurting yourselves. I rode for years before I went to instructor school. Let me tell ya, they will teach you moves you never thought of. If you ride a bike full-time and don't wear a full-face your definetly taking your life in your own hands. There are statistics...... As far as bike selection, to me a comfortable position on a bike is one that is comfortable well after the first hour. If the tank won't hold 5 gallons it's not a real bike. A bike that is agile and good handling is one that will save your life, good looks alone are good for a coffee table! As far as the Jap bike remarks.. when there's an American Bike that fits the above criterea that's affordable and high quality then maybe someone will buy one.

This is a little 650 Triumph Bonneville 650 5 spd all number match. Tried selling it a few times, nobody showed me the money... $3000 US Dollars OR Truck, Suburban Blazer possible trade. It has a freshly done .020 over motor job, Hepolite pistons. And Lucas the darklord never gremlined this bike electrics.
