My 1959 Fleetside Build

Got my front frame sections trimmed up and tacked on. I have found the glaring difference in my attempt at being very low. The front rails will take some special boxing and bracing. The good news is that they snug up to the bottom of the Camaro rails. The bad news is it that I will need to extend the frame down to connect it all together.

Put the front wheels on to check my track width. Very happy at 68" total.

Fabbing up the peices that will make my clip transition. Got the square pipe that will be the C-Notch.

Can you show some more pictures of the truck with the s-10 frame. What year is the frame. How far are the cab mounts off the frame.

Good job on the frame! I wanted to raise mine. Like that but
It was already boxed all the way back. I cut my own bag cups to get it lower still need spindles though.

My brother (the busy welder) is all I am waiting on to finish up. I have my C-notch fabbed up and waiting for welding also. I found a nice ZR2 8.5" posi rear and it is being shipped now. I am going to cut the front this weekend and put the bags in place. Pics this weekend.

Rear end arrived. Tacked the inner part of my V-notch and test fit it. It will have lots more structure and allow about 11 inches of drop. I want to lay body with 31 inch tires. Phone died and I only got 1 pic.

Tires and wheels on. It has a 68" outside width just like the front. Woo-Hoo. I got some more done on the notches

The notches are ready to be welded in. I built them on the welding table and had to get them fitted back in with clamps. Very good fit. I am hoping to cut the centers out this weekend.

Hey, are these lower flaps OEM? They look like little deflectors of some kind and are held on with clutch head screws. I had not seen them till I got it up off the ground.

Yes they were a option. I've never seen any in person.

I have those on mine, they were bent up a fair bit from use and abuse from being a farm truck.

My passenger corner was not real bad so I used a small piece of the patch panel.

Got both corners finished. Found a lot of little dings and dents but I can hammer and dolly most of them out. I have no idea why the bondo is below the window. I am going to sand it off and see what it looks like underneath.

If it is anything like mine you are going to find 100 small dents from brick, rock, lumber, etc. bouncy off the back of the cab. And you can't get to it from the inside very easy. I bet I have 10 hours just on that one part of my cab. It is a compound curve (vertically and horizontally) which makes it interesting too!

I got a little more accomplished. I cut the frame out at the notches. I dropped it all the way down and was happy with the results. Still need to weld all the open and unfinished items up and box the frame. The rear frame is 2-1/4" off the ground and the front cross member has 2-3/4" of clearance. After it is bagged, I will be able to lay the body flat on 31" tires on the rear.
The rear of the cab will have to be notched to clear the driveshaft. I need to decide on the 4-link system soon.

My cab had the same damage in the place where you have all of the bondo. It was ugly so, I replaced the entire rear of the cab.

Are you getting rid of your inner cab corners?
