Okay so the brake and drive it around long weekend turned into a brakes only weekend. Something's wrong with my TH350. My brother, my dad, and I installed all of the new brake lines from LMC Truck. Then rebuilt the rear brakes, and installed the S10 Blazer booster and master cylinder with CaptainFab's adapter. I had to shim with a few washers to get it lined up with the hole in the pedal, but it works great. I had my foot on the throttle when my brother was helping to hotwire it and scared him with my straight pipes. Next step is to sort out the transmission issues. I'll start a help thread in the help area.

Okay so my brother and I figured out the TH350 this past weekend. It's amazing what some of the POs will do. A 10.75" flex plate will not work with a 11.5" torque converter. After looking forever I located a torque converter and installed it then filled the trans up with fluid. All in all this took about 14 hours but I did a little tire spinning around 9:30 Friday evening by the light of a flashlight for headlights. Future plans are for a 700 but for now this will have to do. Sorry no pics. I'll update later.

Taking a week off of work to get a little truck work complete. First things first, installed the new CPP tubular transmission crossmember. Much nicer and much more clearance for the exhaust to run through the frame. I'll keep the thread updated this week.

A few updates to the truck. Door almost repaired. A little more work and on the the drivers side tonight.

Then I did a little repair work on the passenger side floor. It may need a little more attention, but it's much better. And then my bro put a billet steering wheel on his '57 so the old lumina wheel is on my '70 for the next few months. Its a really nice update from the old wheel I had on this thing.

New fenders and hood from a local truck fanatic. Was going to pick up the hood since mine had the old hood ornament holes in it, but ended up with the whole front clip.

Then on to the exhaust. I bored the holes through the factory trailing arm crossmember. I have two 1.5" length pieces of 4" OD schedule 40 pipe to weld in the holes. Of course to get this done I had to build a 3/4" plywood jig or the hole saw would have been jumping all over the place. Don't try this without a jig. Exhaust should be installed in the morning......stay tuned.

I have the 1.5" long 4" OD pipe tacked in. Getting the muffler shop to finish with their welder tomorrow. Did a little work on the engine. Can you tell why I call this the Pac-Man mod?

Finally paint on the floor! And a pic of the new/old front clip installed. It's really tight. I'll definitely have to use shims to get the hood to fit correctly.

Great progress on the truck! You did real good on the rust repair and I see you got the exhaust cut outs in Must be little harder to weld on a truck with the suspension and all still on the frame. I had a hard enough time getting around the rear trailing arm mounts on my bare frame. Keep up the good work! Later

Thanks for the compliments and thanks for your advice on the crossmember through-hole cutouts. I offset the rings all the way forward and outside of te crossmember so that a fillet weld from the rear of the crossmember could complete the whole weld and seal it off. I don't have a stick welder so I'll have the welder at the muffler shop help out a little. There was a delay on this because I want room to work on the seat mounts before I have the exhaust in the way.

I picked up a van tilt. Not sure if I'm going to use it or not; or even if it can be used in my truck at this point but, I do want tilt steering.

Ok, time for an update. I have the seats bolted in, the shocks installed and the exhaust in back to the mufflers. Getting to work on the sanding, stripping, body work next.

Over the Christmas holiday I finished up a lot of the body alignment and tweaking to get everything looking as close as possible. The fenders had to be shimmed out to clear the hood, but it looked pretty good. I also did a little more stripping on the cab to see what kind of body work I'll be doing.

Picked up a new grill with a small dent. I ran across it and couldn't turn it down.

And then I started welding a few holes up. The antenna hole which won't be needed and the tripod mirror holes which definitely will not be used on my pickup.

And I loaded up all of the removable parts for the trip to the sandblaster. Parts will be back on Jan. 11th and I have the SPI regular build ready to shoot.
