Re: Project CST/SS

Got started cleaning out the old shop today to make way for Project cSSt.

Man there is a lot of junk in there, anyway got 1/2 of it done today and will tackle the rest tommorrow. This shop has some old bones but it is in pretty good shape for a pole shed. It is wired w/ 2 each 220v & adequate 110v outlets all around. Need to fix a few tin roof leaks and do some repair on a few rafters. I really want to pour some concrete but we will see.

Some pictures attached of my unassuming shop.

Very interesting front grill, I like the idea, no one else will have it, maybe joke around and fool a few people, yep a special edition SS.

Re: Project CST/SS

Found some clearer images of that golden cameo truck I though I would share.

Says it had a vinyl roof, carpet & bucket seats too.

The photo is from the 1967 Chicago auto show. They have a smaller version of the same pic on their web site.

Re: Project CST/SS

Yeah, I am not sure about doing a vinyl roof on mine though. It might look ok if I leave the factory white upper (red truck w/ white roof) and then add white vinyl but I dunno. Never been a fan of the vinyl roof systems. Thanks for the pics though! did you notice the matching vinyl bed cover?

I have those wheel covers but I think American racing TT's are in the picture for my truck.

I totally forgot about that Golden truck, I always remember the hood vents, a bit odd but did like the grill and front end, too bad they didn't actually make them.

Re: Project CST/SS

Wow, thanks for the close up picture. That looks really good. The stainless outside grill trim looks to be the toughest. Got my work cut out if I want to replicate this.

I think if I went with the SS hood inserts I might want to recess them and actually have a vent door I can open to make it operable.

Re: Project CST/SS

Well, still cleaning out the storage to make a shop out of it...That's bad when you have to make a place to work on your project but anyhow, that is going o.k. and should have ready to go by thanksgiving.

Anyhow, been playing around in autocad and have schemed up some new badges for the cSSt. Which do you like? any ideas?

Re: Project CST/SS

I like the SS in the circle kinda like an Impala, it looks awesome. I know when I do mine it will just be SST/10 like the original emblem.

Re: Project CST/SS

I like several of them. Not one jumps out at me though. Just out of curiousity, how did you make the fonts like that? I do some custom work and would like to know what software you used. I have been looking for really clean Chevy logo/numbers fonts. Just can't find them and my drafting design skills are lacking.

Re: Project CST/SS

thanks for the input guys!

double b, I like the impala SS design also, one of my top 3

67-72c10, that looks and sounds ok also, although for me it's two many sports when you spell it out...super sport / custom sport truck (ss/cst) vs. custom super sport truck (csst). not that anybody does spell it out, i am just peculiar that way. The trim piece does look good that way though!

Mcbassin, I used to be a draftsman some years ago and I dusted off my skills to do this in Autocad Lt. It's a total custom drawing as no fonts exist that match existing.
Once I decide on one, I plan to clean up the drawing a little and do a mock up out of wood on the CNC we have at the woodwork shop I work for. If it looks good, I will give it to my nephew to produce me a few emblems at the machine shop he works at unless you are willing to collaborate.

Hey, no problem. Let me know when you finalize a design. The biggest single problem I have with emblems is getting the geometry. If I can get a DXF or IGES file to work with that would give me what I need. If you can get creative and make a solid model that would do the best trick for me. I am always willing to barter too

Great idea! Makes you wonder where that cameo pick up ended up. Probably in the crusher.
