Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Also managed to score her a NOS tailgate trim off of eBay today!

Her's has the larger one on there now, but it's worn & like the smaller version a lot better!

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Thats awesome! My first car was a 90s grand am lmao. Needless to say shes lucky and has a awsome dad. Keep up on the updates! I think the fact that I didnt have a cool car for a first car is the reason I build my own vehicles now haha.

I love it! My daughter is turning 12 in April and she loves to work in the garage with me. She's a tomboy but still a girl too. Great redering. Cute daughter. No offense.

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Well, looks like I may have found a taker for my old 6.0L engine. He's got a 5.3L already partially torn down for a carb conversion he's willing to trade me - plus it comes with the accessories!

Probably gonna send it to Moore's Engine Supply there in Auburn for a "going though" & have a new cam & springs installed as well. If I can get it home before I arrive I may try to get it installed while I am doing the rear suspension work!!!

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

I like the wheel+hub design, its beautiful lol. Going with a 5.3 is way better than the ole big block(I hate to say it), its just better in a economical sense. Just out of curiosity why not keep it stock height ?

Just like the look of slightly lowered trucks & she does too. Not getting carried away or "bagging" it, just a mild static drop.

Lol!!! Agreed - dreading the days ahead... If I can just keep her in the garage & covered in grease - maybe they won't notice her!!!

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Great score man!!! Love what ur doing with it, love that you are keeping those stock hubcaps!! Maybe some red pin stripes on the side, but that is just me. My son turns 10 on the 9th so i am gonna have to start thinking about something like this too, thinking about keeping my old 77 dodge for him, we will see. Once again

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

I don't know how I had completely missed this thread?

Oh man! I need to start making some progress on mine, you're gonna build two trucks before I can build one!

That rendering is great......... (definitely better than the greasy plan )

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Her's is gonna relatively slow as we'll work on it when I come home on R&R's primarily - hoping mine gets done before her's though!!!

Come May I'll be able to get actual progress pics on her as we work on it & start going through it better - as I've never seen it in person yet...

Yeah, Ryan is the man when it comes to renderings for sure!

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Sweet!!!!!!

Trevor just scored me a 1990 Chevy 454SS 9.5" 14-bolt 5-lug rear axle for the truck!!! It's complete drum-to-drum & has 3.73 gears & a "Gov-Lock" posi!

We're gonna tear it down & make sure everything is Ok internally - replace the seals & anything else required. It already had the perches modified for her year model truck so it'll bolt right in!!!

This axle will EASILY handle any power that 5.3L motor can throw it - better than the stock 10-bolt ever could anyhow...

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

Sheesh I have patients at all...

Went ahead & bought a TA Performance aluminum diff cover for the axle. Should look pretty nice on there - just hoping the fuel cell doesn't block the view of it once it's installed too...

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

I figured it would be pink with a Justin beaver mural on the hood.. ha. If that was my first vehicle i wouldn't be alive today. I had a 48 Willys jeep with the original 4cyl and a 37 chevy pickup cab welded on it. Top speed 40mph maybe 45mph down hill. It went from washington to california 3 times and broke down a hundred more times than that it had manual windshield wipers too. That'll teach you a lot about ownership to, by the time i was done with it it had parts from lawnmowers rigged to it. Awesome truck dude![IMG][/IMG]

Re: Daughter's 1st Square

No pink & DEFINITELY nothing about that idiot on there.... She just specified red wheels & getting those! In a few weeks she'll get her first taste of actually working on a truck & we'll get a lot more into it.
