Re: POST your old school car stereo 1980-1995

I will see if I can come up with some pics as soon as my battery charger for my camera comes in the mail. I have a 2 shaft Alpine and a 2 shaft Nakamichi. In my opinion, Nakamichi was the best of the best back in the day and was out of my price range. I always ran Alpine stuff though.

Re: POST your old school car stereo 1980-1995

I originally bought that smaller Kenwood strickly on size. I wanted to get that up into the dash on the passenger side. We just brought different amps out until we found one that would fit. I did have to grind off just a little on one end but otherwise, it fit in there nice and snug. Now it's in the back.....

Re: POST your old school car stereo 1980-1995

I haven't seen anything old school posted yet guys, just stuff from the 80's.

Do I need to post original AM/FM's from the 60's?

Common guys, I haven't even seen an 8 track posted here yet....

I must go back a ways, when you say old school I think vintage and to you guys it must be antique

like the thread title says....1980-1995....think back to the day you heard the first car or truck with bass that you could hear a 1/2 a mile before you saw them. amps, subs, tweeters... anything before bass is just factory stereo stuff, everybody had stock. i guess i should have said to post your old cd player, amps and subs...

i still remember the first vehicle i heard with subs. i guy named "rob bass" drove a 1985 s10 blazer with 4 punch 18's with an amp on each one. in the school hallway we would hear him coming for 5 mins and when he got closer his bass would rattle every locker in the hallway and when we went outside everybody looked around saying "what in the world is that sound?" he had 15x12 inch reversed wheels and he drove the blazer wearing gun earmuff's....that was in 1989

Yeah I read that, 1980 just isn't "old school" to me. Maybe for the younger generation I guess...

Re: POST your old school car stereo 1980-1995

In '02 ish, I had an old school white Autotek 600w "street machine" amp... That thing would outperform all of those 3ft long "1600w" crap. Amps my buddies had. I had it pushing 2 MTX built "Hollywood" 15's in an ext. cab '91 S10.
That's setup beat HARD! I also had an old gold letter Kicker comp 12 in my '87 Z28.
