Re: How rare is this 63 crew cab shortbed?

I'd say very rare! With the custom trim, that is. Maybe that's where the ten built comes from. ?
Personally, I don't get the crew thing. Why ugly up a truck when a stock Suburban would do? Those little sawed-off beds are practically useless.
As for collecting, I guess the need to be unique wins out here, and in that regard, this one stands tall against the others. Buy it.
Oh, and definitely go stock.

Re: How rare is this 63 crew cab shortbed?

it would have orig been ordered as a 3/4t 4 x 4 p/u (non napco) and then modified to become a crew-cab. rear door trim was more than likely frt door trim made to fit.
I doubt that it is worth 5 grand.
a lot of those crew-cabs for the PNW were built for the logging industry to take crews out to the bush everyday. they would throw their gear(saws, gas, etc) in the back and hop in the cab and off to work.

..well there's definitely more than 10 that were made, but they ARE rare; totally worth the price if it runs & drives..

In one of the episodes of My Classic Car, he went to a show in Navada and he focused on a tan 4 door work truck.
