A lot of neat daily drivers. 72LonghornTx thanks for your service man. You get back safe and join the rest of us that are collectively adding to any national fuel shortage.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
My '80 is my daily driver during the rainy Seattle fall and winter. When the weather is reasonably warm and damp-to-dry, I ride my motorcycle. But otherwise, I take the truck. My commute is about 16 miles round trip, but I'm fortunate enough to only work 4 days per week.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
My '75 that hauls me around, rain or shine but never on the ice. Luckly we don't get much of the frozen stuff. The wife has an '06 GMC crew cab, so if for whatever reason I have down time, I can still get around. Fuel prices are going to have to get REALLY bad before I park her.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
I drove my 74 every day for 6-7yrs. I traded it in 2010 for the dually & drove it daily until the motor locked-up. Trying to get the dually wrapped up but w/fuel prices escalating, not sure if it will be 'every day' or not. Most likely, I'll be scootin' around town in something that gets a little better mpgs.... my 64 .

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
My '78 has been my daily driver since Sep 2010. I've put about 15,000 miles on it Since then. I am in school right now, live downtown and take the bus a lot so it doesn't get driven that much right now.
Because mine is a diesel, I'm not really worried about fuel prices going up. Getting 22 MPG in a square body makes me a happy man. Especially when I see that the 2012 F*rd's new ads are claiming 23 MPG's Took 'em long enough.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
[QUOTE=JCampbell;5276382]I “daily-ed” both of mine – the dually and the Sub – for quite a while. I slammed the dually then drove it every day for about 2 years before the trans went south. Then I parked it and started driving the Suburban. Drove the Suburban for another year and a half before my company gave me a 4x4 F-150 to drive.
The Ford is really nice, but to be honest, I prefer the older iron. Every once in a while I leave the Ford at home and drive the Sub to work. Jason, I LOVE your 'burb.

Premium gas prices be damned, the burb will be my DD as soon as it's screwed back together, which should be any week now.

Re: How Many Use their Truck for the Daily Grind?
Thanks man, it's gettin there, little bit at a time! I've been meaning to start a build thread, just been too dang busy! My buddy and I cut about 2 coils out of the front, and we cut the rear leaf mounts off the frame, flipped em upside down and welded em back on. That in itself I believe is about a 6" drop in the rear, and then we took out 3 or 4 leaves, so probably closer to 7...? And about the same in front I think. I desperately need to get some drop spindles though, the front is waaaay out of whack now but hey, didnt cost me a dime!
