That is a great score, a man can not have to many tools. The wright tool for the job makes life so much easier.

I got the "dollies" w/my 4 post lift... only tried to use 'em once. With the dollies attached to the bottoms of the posts the posts want go in 4 different directions. There's no support for the upright posts. Maybe with a person guiding each post it would work better--- OR--- maybe I was doing it wrong. My lift isn't fastened to the floor but I haven't moved it since I put it together. I've never felt the lift move or wiggle with a veh. up on it and I've pulled pretty hard on a long breaker bar working on cruddy suspension pieces. They make some pretty neat platforms that slide between the ramps that have a hydraulic jack built in. I think it'd be handier than my selection of bottle jacks I use on the lift.

Congrats on the lift! I move mine with a short bed stepper on it all the time. The posts do go out of plum because all the weight is on the wheels and if you want to move it on your own make sure all the wheels are pointed in the same direction to start with. The cycle time on my lift is about 35 seconds and I'm ok with that. Have fun with your new toy you bought well! Cheers, Pat

HMmmmm.. THANKS pat, never tried it with a truck on it.. 'course my shop's so cluttered now there's no place to move to anyway.

Can anyone tell me what the minimum ceiling height
would be for a four post lift?
I would like to get one but may have to raise the roof first.

Usually 6 feet plus the height of the vehicle you are raising. My 2 post recommended 12 foot ceiling height.

Thanks for all the kind words and comments. The posts on mine are 70"tall. of course the the lift won't go quite that high, plus the height of your vehicle, to determine ceiling height needs. I was going to try to put the dollies under it and winch it onto a trailer to move it but the doors on the sellers shop are not tall enough, so it will have to be dismantled to move. That will take a little longer.

Congrats...you did well! And you are going to love it!!

BTW-I've found the most valuable asset my lift (Direct Lift, 2 post) has is by doubling the floor space; at will.
There is no other way I can add that much to the shop's footprint for 2G.

Here my lift among the clutter. Its a Bend Pack 9000 lb. A guy I knew had it his shop and when he gave up the space he sold it to me for $1000 cash. We had to revamp the garage a bit to make it work but its all good now. Hoping to repaint it someday not that it would work any better,just would look cool. Hoping for blue posts and yellow arms. I never want to work on the floor again.

Yesterday was moving day. We had to take the motor and reservoir from the post, and remove the cables from the top of the post, to get it through the door in my neighbors shop. We used a tow strap on two posts, and pulled it with the winch on the Grizzly. We literally drug it out the door to the driveway. After that it was a matter of raising the lift, backing the "HEAVY EQUIPMENT" trailer under it, then lowering it onto the trailer. We had to manually raise the four posts at least a foot off the ground and strapped her to the trailer. I only had to tow it about 2/10 mile to my shop, so I felt safe with it. My shop doors are 10' high, so backing in trailer and all was a snap. It is sitting in my shop now and I will post up pics later. Thanks to all who encouraged me to go through with this.

Pics from my shop. The '72 fits good. The Z71 is a barely hangs on the back. The only change I had to make to the shop was raising the light fixture directly over the lift by 18 inches.

I think that would depend on the type of vehicles you wanted to store 2 cars would take less overhead than 2 pickups. With 10 ft ceilings I would think you could store (2) 4ft tall vehicles easy enough or one taller and one shorter.

Does any know much or anything about the Challenger 3900 two post lifts, I found a used one but cant seem to find any information on it on line? Guty says its a 9000lb very symertrical lift with truck lift extensions that come with.

I'm thinking about getting a MaxJax for my garage because I don't have a lot of ceiling height, plus I can move them out of the way when I'm not using them. Might be an option for guys with low ceilings.

A friend of mine has the max jax set up and although they are grea For some they are also with in $100.00 of the four post lifts. Even if you can't use the height of the four post I would still recommend it over the max jax just my opinion. Cheers, Pat
