Where did you find your truck?

mine found ME, yeah thats right i got a text and it said wanted new home just need a loving new owner, to take care of me and provide good truck medical coverage, we meet , bonded and now will become part of the family.

I got my '72 K2500 on October 25, 2009 off Craigslist in Hayden ID.

The truck I was driving died (88 Toyota 4X4) I was wanting a older Chevy truck. I looked at a few pre 67, but they all needed to much work for the price. One morning I was looking in the Sunday paper Classifieds and found this one for $1500. Then and now.

In a backyard , Corinth ms. Knocked on his door once , not for sale. Did a road trip about a year later , chasing lies of of craigslist. Drove from Niagara falls , canada , to nashville , to birminham al. , back thru corinth - nothing. Knocked on his door again - $800. on the trailer. That was fall 2010.

My dad spotted my med. bronze '71 in '95 for sale and four or five years later I was able to track down the original owner who ordered and purchased it in Susanville, Ca. and also gave me a picture of it when it was new. My '72 swb I got thru a Thrifty Nickel ad in 2000, and my other '71 K10 I got thru my brother-in-law after he found it on a farm.

I was out throwing my old cbr around some turns up in the next co. when I came across a 65 lwb parked next to a garage.I stopped an asked if it was for sale. the old guy said ive had that truck so long I would rather see it sit there and rot for good memories. I was ok with that he was really old and told me some great stories while he showed me the truck. I notice he had some cool old contraptions made from model a's and t's layin around down back an we got to looking at some of those then I noticed a 67 fleet swb way down back instantly "is that one for sale?" "well he said thats not mine it belong to a kid at my church but I'll get you his # an you can ask him.so i called him an the kid said I had a 350 built at the vo-tec for it and it only lasted 45 min the bearings failed we pulled it an there it sat for 6yrs he was fed up with it. 5 bills plus the transfer and an we flat towed it home 16mi over the hills that nite lol. at the time my oldest was 14 an soon needing a ride so I told him we will build it an when its done he will buy it for $1 well I got my $1 three weeks ago an he's been driving the snot out of it. I was back to talk with the old guy a couple of times and enjoyed his company but last year we when back and all the contraptions were gone so was the 65 its kinda sad when old people pass and all is lost btw he had a beautiful 35 chevy truck in the garage that made my knees weak I made him a 7g offer on it a couple of times an he would just chuckle not for sale. rip old man ray

i got mine from a friend , paid about 4 times what it was worth.( $ 3000.00 ) and he said if my dad ask you gave me$ 5000.00.. oh well nobody's fault but mine . cant believe i was that dumb...

back in the 70's i use to work on this truck, it belong to a good friend and customer of mine. he used it on the farm to haul round bails of hay, and around the farm, he was the second owner, later years he sold it to another farmer here and a hand drove it , then it was parked and set for several years out in a field , then my ex father-in-law bought it and drug it to his house ,he told me about it and knew i wanted one. he told me that if i wanted it he would sell it to me for what he paid for it , the title was still in the good friends name that was the second owner. so i gave mack his $300.00 back and drug it to my house,and had it running the next day....ole dollar is back on the road, and will some day shine again.....

Got my 68 from a buddy 2010, it was his sons truck in high school. Been under his shed for years, the rats had made a condo under the seat. Been restoring it ever since then, someday.

Got mine in May 1990. Sacramento newspaper ad said "69 Chevy truck, V-8, owner can no longer drive". The grandson was selling it for his Grandpa, who could not drive anymore. Gramps bought it new at Lew Williams Chevrolet.

I found mine on the Jacksonville, Fla. Craigslist for 2300.00 in early 2009. The truck was in S.E. Georgia about 90 miles from me. I had been wanting a 72 since high school when one of my best friends got one for his 16th birthday. I went to take a look at it and it had a very bad trans leak and was not running well. Haggled back and too with the guy and finally got him down to 1500 cash. Got it home and cleaned the carb good. New trans gasket and drove it for about 1 1/2 years on weekends until I started the restore. Below is when I got it and where it is now.

found mine on truck trader, in el reno ok. guy bought it for a project from original owner, was wanting to finish his el-camino. usual rust,rockers & cab corners, 79000 original miles! 350 small block- 400 turbo-12 bolt rear end. $3000 cash. that was 6 years ago and still not done! lol.

My dad found mine in a field in southeast kansas. A friend of his owned it, it was a State of Kansas maintenance truck without a bed and a 283 engine 1/2 taken apart. He was going to use it for a welding truck. So began the construction of a flat bed. As it started to come together we decided it could be mine. Since I was in highschool and needed something to drive. It started out with a 400 SB and now has a 327 that I have rebuilt 2 times. He found another truck and built a flat bed for it also only it was painted black and mine was red. Still own it today and will never get rid of it!!

I found my 67 at the rod run in pigeon forge in 2006 I pulled up and there it was for sale with a RIDICULOUS rod run price on it , I told the guywhat I would give him for it he said NO WAY ! so I left him standing there talking to himself , the next week he delivered it to my house for what I offered ,,

just this week I bought my son a 68 short fleet it was on craigslist in keezletown VA had been on there a month the guy said he got no call's on it ??? so I called made a deal and paid a deposit then posted about it on here , after I made a post about it on here the guy I got it from said he got call's night and day from people trying to offer more and get him to sell it to them

Found mine on the resale lot (a place for service members to buy/sell vehicles) on Ft Campbell. I bought it from a Blackhawk pilot that had “too many toys”.
After a little dickering, I gave him $2200 for it.
That was in May of 1992
My son was 9 weeks old (he’s 27 now, and a Tank mechanic in the Army) and he grew up in “the Truck”.
Needless to say, he’ll get to truck when I’m gone😎

Feebay on my 68 - Waited for the auction to end and the reserve was not met, Called and made a cash 'Get in the truck and go get it now' offer and bought it. Drove to Corbin KY and picked it up the next morning.

Craigslist on my GMC - Watched the ad for a couple weeks and the price kept coming down. Called the lady, drove 312 miles to look at it, paid her and drove it home. Never missed a beat. It was a fun trip.

My neighbor across the street stopped by the house one day and asked if I wanted to buy his (original owner) 71 K20, his (original owner) 73 K20, all his welders, air compressors and a bunch of tools for a very sweet price. I did, and we brought all his stuff from his place across the street to my place.

I sold the 73 a little while later to a friend. And in the next week or so the 71 is also going to a friend. I will be without a driver 67-72 for the first time in a very long time.

Found this on Craigslist, first ad posted at midnight. Truck was located in SW Missouri, I'm in Indiana. Called the fella immediately and told him I would buy it. Told him I'm a man of my word, and if the truck was what he said it was he'd have a money order by the end of the week. Had him take it to a local shop of my choice for a once over, and I sent the check and a truck. It arrived as described but with a transmission issue, he sent me $500 to fix the issue and ive been driving it everyday since!

As it looked when it came off the trailer.

I found mine at my grandparents neighbor. They had been neighbors for years; they guy had passed late in the year, I was visiting with my grand parents when his widow stopped over. I mentioned the truck, she said she will check with her sons to come up with a price. I had money set aside for a bike, so I stopped looking. I waited it out about a month with no word from her. I thought it was gone. Then she called with the price ($1500) I said I'll be there this weekend with the cash.
A friend of mine gave me a ride up to my parents on a friday night and saturday morning we made the deal. Drove to my parents and then drove her home about 65 miles, stalled once at the toll booth, I thought I was going to have to have her towed, but she came to and rolled home.
