Re: is it worth saving ?
Am I the only one sick of the term "Rat Rod" and everything associated with it? How did "Rat Rod" make it's way over to 67-72 trucks? A "rat rod" is supposed to be from the 30's. Just my opinion.
sorry for the rant. Save the truck or at least leave it in the yard as a flower planter.

Re: is it worth saving ?
My vote: SAVE IT !!!
Why? Many trucks appear to be be in decent shape in the beginning but by the end of the build the owner has replaced: cab floor, roof patch, hood, fenders, core support, doors, tailgate, bedsides. Well pretty much most of the truck. Atleast you know what is there: no bondo, no expanding foam no roofing supplies, no wrong fender. If the frame is straight go for the save!!

There's a special place in heaven for people that will save a truck like that.

When the term was first used... it was kinda cool... just cuz it sounded cool. But it has morphed into "rusted hulk with a bunch of crap welded to it". Rat rods are passe` if you ask me. But, for some reason, they still make the covers of magazines and win at car shows. I wish the fad would go away. Gary

Re: is it worth saving ?
the engine code is cmj , that makes it a 77 model 350 or a 80 model 305. haven`t tried to turn it yet, 3 spd trans on the floor . original engine was probibly a 307. as far as the body goes, it`s going to need everything.

Re: is it worth saving ?
I'm for saving it. Have you seen some of the cars that restorers are taking on these days? Lemme ask you this. If you were to save it is it a project that you would be taking on or would you pass it on to someone else. Lord knows I'm not asking to buy it! I'm just wondering if you are considering taking it on?

Re: is it worth saving ?
Without an original engine I'd pass it on or part it.

Re: is it worth saving ?
This was a white 307 Plain Jane when I got it. I didn't have to replace any body parts, but there are many many trucks that started out looking way way better than this one here that have had all the body replaced. Sell it. I'm sure someone will do something with it.

Re: is it worth saving ?
Yeah,I'm not into the whole straight panels and shiny paint thing. I'm even jaded on patina now. I'm more of a crooked, bashed, bent, and rotted kinda guy now. You really should get with it.
Nah,that truck's a good five years gone now. It was nice, but I sold it to build a better one. Nice one, huh?:

Re: is it worth saving ?
I say do a full resto on it, restore it to it former work truck glory. Or part it out and let it live on in other trucks. Does look like a ton of work, but the end product is a vision we always see.

Re: is it worth saving ?
Thanks for the sale Woody! I made it in about 9:30 last night. He was right - it's rough and ugly, but I drove 7 hours one way to rescue it. It will be rebuilt someday - I bought a nice one-owner low mile 68 just for the occasion!
