Re: Buying another one! 72 Cheyenne K20
Thanks guys! I'm pretty happy with it. I'm pulling the driveline to send to the shop tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have it back by the weekend. Once that's fixed, it'll be my daily driver (at least some of the days...). Hoping to have my 70 C10 back from getting a new engine, body, and paint this weekend too!

Ya, really surprising that I'd look for another black truck huh? Call me a glutton for punishment, but I know what I like!

Re: Buying another one! 72 Cheyenne K20
So I've been troubleshooting this OBNOXIOUS drone / vibration that is really noticeable starting at around 40mph. I've driven the truck very little since bringing it home because I didn't want to tear anything up until I knew what the cause was.
So far, I've: - replaced the driveline with a used original in really good shape (mine had a couple pretty good dents in it) - replaced both rear u-joints - pulled the front driveline (there's a little extra play in the CV joint) - greased all joints (some where pretty dry, others were full) No luck. So I started thinking about some of the things the previous owner said. Specifically, that he'd recently replaced the flywheel because it was missing a few teeth and occasionally grinding when starting. "Good deal" I thought at the time. One less thing. Except, lucky me, he apparently used a 350 flywheel. On the externally balanced Jasper 383. Awesome. So much for one less thing. So I guess I'll be rounding up an engine hoist this weekend. It's driving me crazy not being able to drive this thing!!!

Re: Buying another one! 72 Cheyenne K20
On the plus side, I emailed Jasper Engines with the serial number from my 383 to verify that I did need the 400 flywheel, and they provided me with the original purchase date and the contact info for the place in Washington that bought and installed it. I'm hoping they'll have notes on the mileage at the time of the installation so I can verify the engine mileage. It was sold in Feb 2009, so hopefully it'll be pretty low.

Re: Buying another one! 72 Cheyenne K20
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd mention on this thread that I'm probably going to be listing the K20 for sale in the next few days. I'm just trying to pay off some loans to free up some financial flexibility. Its either this one or the green SWB, and the SWB is a lot closer to finished! I'm sure I'll kick myself when its gone because I LOVE the original Black / Saddle Tan combo on this one, but I'm not sure when I'll have the money to do much with it anytime soon.
