HAHA Yea well, We all want to buy a "driver" and well, just drive it right? I'm sure the cars I've built there are owners posting the exact same stuff, I certainly hope not.
I've never been able to hack stuff together and make it last like some folks. It hasn't been as bad as it seems, just a lot of little things. I did finally get to drive it today and no shimmy good shifts and lots of power.

Funny thing is that I had to go see the previous owner and he knew nothing of the frontend problems Hmmmmm....

The size of the "issues" and how we approach the resolution is as varied as the people that do these.

Sorry to wax so philosophical on your build, but inspiration strikes us at the most odd of moments, and never in locations of our choosing, eh?

Update, I got the tail lights all wired up using GM Weather Pack plugs.

Been driving around for a couple of days just shaking things down and well, it's been doing pretty darn good. No more weird electrical stuff. Runs good and doesn't get hot. No more dead battery.

I managed to hook up a filler neck that will serve its purpose until I get a floor in the bed then I will flush mount it.





Ive already raised the cross seal up off the tanks. Just incase you guys were wondering..

After much headache and time I had all the lights working, Went down to my local station and it passed inspection with flying colors BUT when I got home, Tail lights are flickering with the ign off and lights on and with the running lights on (no headlights) the left turn indicator on the dash is lit. The shift indicator back light comes on when the brakes are applied. Grrrrr.....

I'm starting to think its all in the turn indicator switch in the column or possibly the headlight switch. I had it out cleaning contacts to get the tail lights working and got everything working but now looks like back to the drawing board.

I had the same issues a while back, I had to replace the "high" beam switch on the floor as those wires looked like after years of getting wet they'd become toast and then the switch its self on the dash. Found a wire in the tail light that wasn't grounded very good as well. That fixed all my trucks issues, why didn't you just register the truck as an antique and skip the inspection?

Since this thing will be driven a lot I didn't want to catch grief from the Local PD for driving it so much. I may retitle it later to reflect that...

Alright, Got my lights working. Bad dash ground. All good now..

I found a set of doors from a guy and replaced my bad passenger door and rebuilt the vent windows. I couldn't get the provided rivets to work and went with a stainless pop rivet that worked perfectly to hold the rubber in place on the vent windows. Heresw a few pics.

Vent widows rivets is a 2 person job.

I agree its a two person job and I had help, The pop rivets worked just fine and i can assure you they aren't going any where...

The vent widows are installed and you can't tell the difference...

started installing the low rent bed floor in my rig. I will take the wood back out and paint it and install the rest of the strips...

So I a bit of an update, I have been chasing a little bit of rust on my truck. The drip rails were shot so I figured I'd better figure out whats going there. The A pillars turned out to still be in good shape so I decided just to shave the drips and smooth out the pillars. They are roughed in for now...
