Re: My 66 Burb aka "Parker"
Please, post it for all - I'd love to see it too! I particularly want to see how the two seat option (with fixed rearmost glass) reads.

Beautiful, and not too far from me. I'm in Jennings. Can't wait to see this one in person, especially once it's done (but very nice and solid start).

Re: My 66 Burb aka "Parker"
What an incredible truck and absolute shame to hack it with every cookie cutter suspension mod and wheel change ,when an all original survivor like this is so difficult to find.Nothing personal but original survivor trucks have so much more character and style than every trend follower that is out there, dont be a sheep.Bring on the hate mail.

That everybody that wants to build a really cool custom needs to start out with a rusted-out junker? To sand-blast, and spit shine a bunch of existing pieces is easy & cheap, and just about any non-skilled first-time resto-artist can do that!!! To build a totally nice custom ride takes a lot more thought & talent IMO! I feel that once that you purchase a vehicle for the intent that you choose, it is yours to do with it what you will, and nobody should get butt-hurt when you do!!!

correction 1- a full and correct restoration is not cheap or easy to do with factory correct parts. correction 2- a nice custom built with catalog ordered parts does not always take a lot of thought or talent. but, they both take a lot of $$$!! We should all build what we like like, and respect each others choices... ...but I would certainly love to restore that cool burb, ...but maybe add disc brakes, oh, and maybe a few custom touches...

Re: My 66 Burb aka "Parker"
Nice looking Burb.
I've never been a big fan of Suburbans until I joined the forum. I have found myself looking through Craigslist for c10's and have stopped and looked at Suburbans. Contemplating if I could actually work a deal and get one. Anyone who has seen my build knows there isn't one piece on that truck that hasn't been modified one way or another. On the other trucks I have they are stock. Stock and wearing their age with pride. Maybe one day they will be restored back to the way they came off the lot when new. Back to the point. This is what is great about this place. It has opened my eyes to see all the cool things that can be done with Burbs. By saying “done with Burbs” I don't mean altering the suspension or chopping on the sheet metal. Staying factory correct is cool and making a ride totally different is cool too. Personalizing a ride is a great way to show pride in ownership. Good or Bad. This place (the forum) has open some closed eyes to what else is out there and for this I am grateful. Just my .02 Totally dig your Burb. Sub'd to see it all come together. |

Re: My 66 Burb aka "Parker"
Went ahead and converted over to 5 lug front disc brakes from CPP and done an axle swap to 5 lug on the rear. Dropped it down two inches. Installed the smoothies and had some spacing issues on the rear with the tires. Had to space the rear out a little. Waiting to install the Porterbuilt suspension after Cruisin the Coast.
