That is true about needing to be hot to work. But, they wouldn't be under the cab on these trucks and would hang below the bed plenty enough to eave room for a deflector. Of course, a cat located so far back would not see enough heat, either. The whole idea of using cats in place of mufflers for sound is a failed concept on these trucks. After mufflers will be hotter also, just as they are in OEM applications. There are so many choices in mufflers, you can tailor your sound in a variety of ways... or run straight pipes!

OK..OK..I get it now ...thank you all for your replies and the great pics. I realize now that its kind of stupid to put these on an older truck as they do nothing for the sound, which is why I though of putting them on in the first place.
