You lost me on this one??? I understand the rain rail and down the windshield part possibly clouding the windshield, but how do you jump the path of water to the door bottoms and rocker panels when they are completely separate panels? I am fairly certain the lower door rust is that the weather stripping for the side glass has rotted away. That would be the most direct path for water to the bottom of a door. As for the rocker panel.... depends where you live. In the north it was from salty winter roads. Just my two cents. |

U all are going to ship a 40 year old windsheild by UPS, Fed x!
This is a first. What is insurance on it? I would think a local windsheild installed would be cheaper!

I know we are paying a little extra for that coverage, but we have had 4 replaced in about that many years, so I think it is worth it

Re: Clouded windshield. Any way to fix it?
I actually do have a rock chip in my line of sight, so it qualifies for total replacement. I just called Safelite and my insurance is through All State. I have full coverage, glass coverage, and only a $100 deductible, which Safelite is paying.
They come out tomorrow to install the new window. I told them to make sure they bring a new inner gasket, as well as the outer piece in chrome. They said it was all included. They even asked me if I wanted chrome or not. It has that already, so I'm sticking with it. So, do I need to kindly give the installers some tips on what to do? What would I suggest? That is very nice. You are going to love a nice new clean windshield Mr-B.
That is a good question since most glass in cars and truck now is just stuck in with sealer and there is no gasket. I have put them in before on the old Chevy's before with two people. You might want to help them get the wiper arms off but the rest should go smooth. |

After it was all done, I got a small tube of 'windshield sealant' which was just black silicone and put a fine bead around the edges. I think it helps. It still leaks some, but nothing even close to what it did before.
