Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Got the 8.1 cleaned up and painted, new headers installed. Firewall all smooth. New braided fuel and trans lines run. Hope to pick up some new pulleys at the Auto fair this weekend. Maybe some repro stepside fenders.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Got both bumpers narrowed and flush lights installed. A little more grinding on the rear and fill in the bolt holes and the bumpers will be finished.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Been awhile since I last posted. Just moved to a new house with a big beautiful garage. So I havent had a lot of disposable income to blow on the truck. I have collected a few new parts but mostly working on the garage. Hope to have some pics up soon of my finished Impala dash and painted interior and jambs. I did get my firewall done and painted. Im also thinking about doing the 75 Sport stripes on it. The truck will be blue with charcoal stripes.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Love the gas cap idea. I may have to steal that when I finally start my Willys rat rod project. I really like your slightly modified sport stripes. They fit the truck nicely.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
How did I miss that dash last time I looked at this thread? That thing is really nice in there. Since I obviously wasn't paying attention the last time, I started over from the beginning. I vote for your first color combination posted. I like how the red line gets wider at the back where it turns up. I saw some of your later versions kept it the same width. Beautiful truck...keep up the good work.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Its been an exciting day. I haven't got to do a lot of work in a while. So when I got out to the shop this morning and was able to lay down some color I was just beside myself. I laid down the first two coats on the dash and door jambs. Now I just need to give it a good going over for imperfections before doing the final coat of color and clear.
Love this color The blue looks good with the grey that Im using under the hood and for the stripes on the side Last edited by 85supersierra; 06-11-2016 at 03:25 PM. |

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Dash and Jambs are done. I really dig the matte clearcoat it gives the metal a soft look. Started installing the Vintage air kit and all the electrical. Its fun trying to figure out how to make the Painless harness work with the A/C harness, 8.1 Vortec ecm harness, and the Dakota Digital gauge harness. Lots of unused wires. Also considering using this 59 GMC emblem in my billet grille

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Got a few more things done.
built my own 3" exhaust with Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. Ididnt like the kink in my fuel fill line so I ran some hard line. Which makes it much easier to remove. Really like the 32" Lokar nostalgia shifter. Now I have to find the perfect knob for it. I think I will make my own emblem to resemble this one. Its pointing down to much being on a flat grille. Got a spare stepside bed and some rough fenders so I believe I will build me a bar like this one for my shop. Sorry the first two pics are sideways im not sure how that happened |

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Had a couple other little projects going between paychecks. I decided to make the back wall of my shop look like fake store fronts.
I payed homage to my first hot rod with a sketch of my 1970 Chevy panel truck. If you have one of those awful reproduction tailgates that dont fit for s*** consider making good use of it. I took mine to two of my friends from instagram, @jeremykempart for some kicka** pinstriping and @handyhinch built the bench out of rough cut cedar. Almost too pretty to sit on. |

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
I have to give some artistic credit to @C10Crew for the killer coloring book that helped me do my panel truck sketch on the wall. I assure you there will be many more of the C10s from this book getting drawn on my walls.
One more bench from @handyhinch and @jeremykempart made from an old tailgate that was just taking up space at my shop. I cant get enough of these guys work. |

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Got a sweet set of seats from a junkyard this week. I couldn't believe how good of shape they are in. Got the new brackets fabricated, now just need to remove the headrests and have the reupholstered. Going with a dark charcoal with the blue plaid inserts.

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
Too dang cold and snowy to get much done on the truck today so i decided to play with photshop. I did a little interior design, forgive my ametuer photoshopping. The plaid pattern will be much smaller in real life. I think the third panel is my favorite. Tell me what yall think?
First attempt Second attempt I think this is it And the seat finish it up with some wheel play |

Re: 1985 Super Sierra
I like your ideas on the interior. I would try to balance out the amount of the plaid on the door panels to be more inline with how much is on the seats. You don't want the doors to over power the interior in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion aggie91 I am trying to find the right balance. My wife suggested the full plaid door panel. I was a little iffy on it as well.
