Re: K10 w/472 Cadillac?

It is not a 4x4. I didn't have to do any driveline mods or even make one. Used a driveline off another one of my trucks. The power/torque of a caddy is below 3k rpm. Mine idles at about 800 rpm's and all the power is there even with a 650 cfm carb. It ran really well. Now I have a 750 double pump holley and a few aluminum parts added and the truck hauls a$$ and the torque is crazy.

I used to have a square body with a 455 olds in it and it was the same way just all kinds of lowend torque right off idle. All ways like that motor for its lowend power.

Re: K10 w/472 Cadillac?

Cadillac big blocks are great swaps 472ci or 500ci. for chevy 4x4 or 2wd.
it has been done for years by the old timers swapping them in there tow trucks. cant beat the torque of these engines 500-550ftlbs. There is a old junk yard in az the guy runs these in his old trucks and gets 14-18 mpg in his tow truck. Add a aluminum intake and a set of headers and it weights as much as a small block chevy. There are adapter plates for the trans. I used one to put a chevy 700r4 behind a buick 350. I will be using one for my swap for my 75 gmc project i am going to use for small camper and tow rig for samurai crawler. A good friend of mine showed me alot about these engines. there cheap and easy to work on with monster power. He used them for drag racing. straight from juck yard with miles throw timing set, first step cam, headers and intake put a 4400lbs car low 13s with 2.73 gears and spool. had over 500ft lbs at tires with mods. That be one of the better parts of the biuld I am doing with mine there red line is 4000-4500rpm stock and dont like alot of gear. So running 35s with 3.55 or 3.73 gearing will work great. no need for a overdrive just run a tough th400. I will do pictures and build up for this truck and will shares as I go.

first welcome to the forum...I also like the old caddy motor swap, there is a guy in town here that had a one ton ford welding truck that had a caddy motor, it made a real good motor for the ford...
