the guy i got this engine from had this boat in the back of his shop. built 454 in a boat just alittle bit bigger than yours, not much. i about crapped myself. he says he does 85 on the lake and thats all he lets it do cuz its too much power

that cam isn't for building off line torque as the close lobe sep will bleed off cyl pressure at lower idle. That cam will not make good power below 3000rpms. Sometimes less is more.

i think im leaning towards the 268 high energy. ive heard some good things about it being pretty torquey
