Found my build sheet, and pieced together some cool history on my truck

This is a very neat shot. All these brand new 'classics' lined up for sale with zero miles at a dealership...wonder where they are now...

I have heard only freemont plant trucks had these, not sure of it though. I think it is a great plus to have it survive, and be able to see how the truck was actually born. I think original documentation like this adds to a trucks value, at least to me it does. I went to a scrapbook store and got "archival grade" plastic sleeves for mine, supposedly there's acid in cheap ones that can damage the paper.

My theory is that Fremont trucks would have been more likely to be sent to dry climates in the West (yes, Utah is in the dessert believe it or not), vs going to other areas of the country that are humid. Humidity isn't too kind to paper, so maybe more of them just got ruined

Someone with more knowledge can chime in, but it seems like a pretty good theory.

Paws, I agree. It's neat to imagine life and how it was back then in that moment in time. I wonder what a window sticker looked like on one of those vehicles. Lol

I've had trucks from various plants with build sheets. I think they all had one,maybe some missed.

I started coming around Salt Lake maybe 15 years or so after that picture was taken. Back then, you could still see all the indivdual towns with farmland between. Now, all one big Metropolis from like Brigham City to the North to Spanish Fork and beyond to the South and Tooele (too will a) to the West.

Threre's 2 big canyons in the background-the one on the left is Emigration, the one Brigham led his flock down (if you believe the popular account) and the one on the right is Parley's, home to I-80. (I live about 45 miles up that canyon) The large castle-looking building is the Salt Lake City/County building. It hasn't changed much, except for a huge seismic upgrade a while back.

Mister-B this is a cool thread ,i love the old pics. great you found the build sheet, mine was probably eaten by mice and was in the heater box...i know it was full.
