Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
I would be very concerned about the fresh paint and rust showing already, IMO i think he's hiding something, I would say 6K is what it it's worth only because of the mods he put into it.
If he wants that much and it was me, I would walk away. |

Why do I get the feeling that you already own this truck.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
I have a BBW short bed (1964) I paid $5K for and put 2K more into it (see the thread "El Palomito") I would be happy to get that truck for 15K, wouldn't pay more cause I dont like red. If I liked the color I'd pay up to $17K. Remember it probably gets 12 mpg....not a great daily driver if thats what you want....Plus it has to be a BBW for me.

The rust in the bed would be concerning for 20k truck and the wheels kind of kill the value...10k tops only judging by the pics

I'd expect to see it listed for ~15K around here.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
I don't own it just trying to give the whole story. that specific reference was because I was able to drive it after that change was done.
and in general, of course I want the truck. its close, I have touched it, heard it, and really think its unique. I am just trying to get unbiased opinions so I know how much I might be upside down by buying it. |

The other part that looks like it was a quick job was the inside roof with the paint runs in all 4 corners. Maybe it was meant to have a headliner put in I don't know. I am thinking the truck is safely worth $14-15k all day long. But given how close it is I am willing to pay up in the $17k range and just enjoy it. if I lose a grand in a year or two I am personally ok with it. I will see what the owner says, he won't be happy with the offer but I have local comps to compare to and industry evaluations to show to back up what you guys are saying. |

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
Update: I offered the owner $17k and he said he wanted $20k. He is a CPA, so a numbers guy and thought it was a fair offer, but he is going to put it on ebay and see what happens.
I really appreciate all the input from you guys and this forum. I am still in the hunt for a truck and will be sticking around. |

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
I believe that the seller bought a truck partially done for parts, then changed out all the parts he wanted built this truck to sell, he still has another truck that he is going all out on, I know several people that do this...

If it truly is going up on eBay, that may work out in your favor.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
Around here- that's a $7500 to $ 9000 truck. there's too many differences in the pictures- obviously not all of the same truck. Some earlier mentioned a put together-to-sell truck and I think they are right. there's not 22K worth of detail in this truck.
I think I'd rather have more proof of the money spent on this truck than just a pile of reciepts. I wonder if it is being sold because he knows he's in it too deep..... |

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
so funny you say that. I did not mention that but you are right. the seller, being a numbers guy, was not very quiet about the situation and was very honest. he has two other 66 trucks being built and both of those will have high money invested in them. His wife said he has to choose and get rid of this one. He bought those other trucks without even looking at them in person and the shop that is doing the work on those has described to me how bad those trucks were as well..... fast forward.... he more than likely will lose money on those as well.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
I agree, it either won't hit reserve or won't sell and then a bit more reality will set in for him. He may come back to me if I don't find another one before then. He did say he was in no rush so it may be a while before he posts it on ebay.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
What I know about history is this:
The seller bought the truck somewhat done (not sure how much) the local shop here that I have gotten to know and they have shown me their work did the rest of it (suspension, finish body work, engine work, front end work - not the bed or painting the cab. |

I would tell him to call you when he finishes the ebay auction. when he comes back, I would offer him $15K....or less. Watch what the highest bid is on ebay and go $500 more.

Re: Value Estimates 1966 C-10 Custom - Restomod chevy 350 updated suspension
Around here the max you would get for that truck is 12k. 20k is ridiculous. Hell look around the country and find a nice one for half that price spend a grand to have it shipped and your golden. Or look in the for sale section on here and find a nice one.
