CPP spindles

Well great news!! After two days of wondering if I was going get the old version spindle or the newer style smooth cast "original offset" drop spindle they arrived today and..... They are the new style spindle with the claimed stock track width. So I can confirm if you oder a cp4s4 from summit you will get a new style CPP spindle for a 73-87 truck. And for a great price too. Now just cant wait to get them on and see the a-arms laid out on the ground!!

Looks like Summit Racing doesn't carry a CPP drop spindle for the Light Duty 1" 73-87 rotors.

Yeah no light duty. If you go by CPP newest catalog it says uses the 1.25 rotors and bearing. And it also lists them at 2.5" drop still which is good cause I assumed they were only 2" like the "modular" ones. So damn confusing!!!

The 1" rotor guys will need to know that this spindle will require you to change rotors, calipers, and switch to A5 inner bearings.

I got mine in waiting on the rotors from break performance . Now i need bearings i guess all I need is bearings for a 82 chevy 1 1/4 hD rotor correct?
I got the modular spindals thou.

im still trying to figure out what the heck the damn rotors on mine are. it aparently has been changed from the 70 drum front to something along the lines of 73-87 a-arms, spindles, rotors and calipers.

problem for me, is that i measure the rotors and come up with 1 1/8" pretty spot on. which obviously is bigger then the inch rotor, but not as big as id assume the 1 1/4" rotor is... so i cant decide what the hell i need for spindles...

Probably because 2" is the max drop with the Modular design.
(supposed narrowed track width that's never been verified "how much", by anyone)

Glad this post came back. I was about to place an order withh CPP and didnt realize all the differences.

So what Im doing is I just want to order some 2 or 2.5 drop spindles for my stock disk front end.
I do need to replace my rotors anyway, and Im not sure if I have the heavy rotors or not.

Can I just order the old school style modular rotors and instal heavy rotors with no extra bracketry or what else am I going to need?

I always thought you just bolted these on... didnt know you may need extra parts unless you were going with big wilwood brakes or something.

Thanks for the link Keith, I'm going with a big brake set is why I chose to go with the modular spindles. If rather have a 2 1/2 inch drop spindles. Just don't like the fact I will have to cut off the caliper ears on the spindles. For my project i've bought ss7 bags, Accuair stage 2, Porterbuilt upper and lower standard tubular A-arms up front. Not sure what tires yet, I guess I'll just buy a smaller tire to compensate for the 1/2 I lose.

So I want the old school modular spindles. Where can I find a set at? I need the narrower track. I would rather not spend the extra $150 for the newer style and the brackets.

Those ones have the seperate caliper bracket. I would like the ones that are modular to get the narrower track and have the ears cast on them like the original.

Mine should be in any day now. I wanted the modular for the narrow track, but couldnt see paying more for them and then paying another 80 bucks for brackets to install my brakes.

So I just ordered the old CPP style spindles through summit. 229 shipped and no extra brackets needed
