Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

On my 2003 the filter is mounted to the frame mid way from tank to engine and I don't think the filter will affect pressure but would affect flow if it gets dirty. On my 69 I put it just after the pump mounted to the frame

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

It's in.

Fits tight, can't really spot it under there and the new pump is quiet and steady at 38 PSI at the rail. Had to re-work my eggsause to fit the tank. Still lack finishing the fuel door and one more exhaust weld.

Left the filter mid way.

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Pulled the stock tank and fabbed a plate to screw the cap on to the old gasket for the stock look.

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Plate in cab- I zapped and tapped a plate on the cap to run the bolt thru.

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Plan is to cut a piece of floor from another smashed bed and make a hinged door. Might use a little latch in the "valley" of the opening. Will have to tackle that next weekend.

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Oh and to mount the tank I made some captured bolts so it can be lowered to either remove the bed or work in on the tank. Here are the bolts.

Installed bolts - I used existing holes in the frame.

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

congrats, looks like a nice install. IIRC that system is supposed to run at a minimum of 42psi. Edelbrock techs, as well as many pro flow tuners i've chatted, say they have found the system to work even better at 46psi. So if you notice that you seem to be at the higher end of your fuel map and your stoich meter doesn't seem to be riching then look into increasing your line pressure.

I was planning to get mine installed in the next month or two but i popped the motor so i guess the tank wont happen quite as soon as planned.

Congrats again. Nice truck -steve

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Thanks, Steve.

The edelbrock regulator isn't adjustable. How are they dialing it to 46 psi?

Discovered that I mounted my breather too low and some fuel splashed out of it - so I'll be moving that around next weekend.

Got the exhaust buttoned up and started on the gas door. It has a nice beat up finish to match the bed....

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

just replace it with an adjustable regulator. they mount on the return end rather than the supply feed so you would just pop the stock off, install a barb end for the soft line, then mount the aftermarket adjustable on a fenderand plumb into it, or make a small bracket that could be bolted any where on the intake.

something like this:

http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-pa...t-1-regulator/

if you dont experience any fuel performance issues then don't sweat it, but if so then this is the critter you're after. check summit's prices, dont pay direct to Aeromotive.

Don't forget this for tuning info, it's a decent thread and the forum helps a bit in other areas as well for tuning on the pro flows:

http://forums.edelbrock.com/forums/showthread.php?t=349

Good luck m7, hope im helpin a bit -steve

Re: Any EFI experts out there? Fuel problem...

Thanks for the tip and links.

That aeromotive 'kinda' looks like how the edelbrock regulator mounts - it's a smooth bore with an o-ring... I would need to remove the rail and tap it in order to install a fitting if it isn't exactly the same.

I'm using the FAST computer which is auto tuning - I had no luck with the Edelbrock tune sequence. ODB1 is not for me.

I could block off the vacuum to the regulator and let it max out to see if more pressure would help, but for now, I'm OK. After all, the longblock is all stock GM. I doubt I'll get a whole lotta power out of it anyway.
