Thanks everyone for the support. I am starting to slow down. I did get my tailgate straps made. Will try to get some pic in a couple days.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
I had a setback. Had my gallbladder removed a couple weeks ago. It really took the fire out of me. I did get most of the motor back together yesterday and today.
I also got the inner fenders and under the hood painted. Iwill try to get some more pic. Thanks ChuckDriver |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Made the tailgate straps using 1/8x5/8 alum straps. Welded a 1/4 steel plate to the bed and the tailgate to attach straps. Then used carriage bolts with the square sholder ground off. Cut a slot in the bolt for a screwdriver. Ground the head of the bolt down a little to clear.
Got the motor back together. Later on after I get it all back together and running, I would like to put a 2 four carbs on the motor and maybe change the cam. If it will quit raining I will get some more painting done. Rich |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Also I made a shaft to prime the motor with oil. That is what is sticking out where the dist goes.

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Nice work.
Any chance you could show some detail on how you have routed the gas tank filler pipe?

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
Nev I don't have the gas filler pipe hooked up yet. I plan on having the guys at the muffler shop bend me a pipe that will work for the filler pipe.
I will post some pic when I get it done , but that is going to be a while. That is John Deer yellow paint on the motor. Rich |

Re: Old Yeller my build 56 GMC
I've never been a huge fan of yellow, but that engine looks so damn good in it

I have bought one of these for mine http://www.haganauto.com/product_p/45sf.htm I was thinking of using some stainless steel exhaust pipe with some rubber fuel hose at each end as joiners between the filler and the tank
