If you were looking to use wrecking yard parts to try and keep costs down you will have better luck finding a lower gear (4.11 or lower) in a ford 9inch. I see ford broncos all the time at pic-a-part and some do have lower gears. Easy to pull out ect. I have never seen a gm truck with lower than a 3.73 at the wrecking yard. Not saying they aint out there, just there are alot more fords.

How about no need for C-Clip Eliminators with a 9" (the axles stay in the housing)
The center of the housing is made of steel. (You can weld brackets)
Factory disc brakes with an e brake.

Re: Rear end swap ????

C-clip eliminators can be added to a 12blt/10blt. What brackets are you putting on a 9" that cannot be put on a GM axle? You got me on the disc brakes.
If you are making serious HP and drag racing,Off Road racing or circle track racing, then I would agree with a 9",otherwise,no.

Re: Rear end swap ????

not everyone "LINK" their trucks.
I'm all for form/function if it is needed for the circumstance, but for "most" it is not necessary.

Depending on tire size 100mph may be all you get too haha. My 3:73s with 26" tires gets me to 115mph at 6krpm. A c clip eliminator and 30 spline axles with a t/a bearing girdle and differential of choice will handle 600hp reliably and when the tubes are welded do fine under the trans take and 700hp turbo gnx cars nice thing is the 8.5 ten can do alot and it's already under almost every truck.

Want to get to 100 really quick gears -weight+hp makes that happen quick haha
