Re: I think I may have finally found "the one"!

After running my long sanding block over that passenger bedside, it ended up being warped pretty badly. I went today and picked up a new bedside for it. The door and cab corner seems OK, but I would have had a way too much work and way too much filler than I would to get the warped bedside straight.

What a shame about the fire... I would have never touched that paint!

Great looking truck!

...and since you are repainting it... the side markers are a shave job away...

Man, there's no way I'd be painting it if it was all one color!

I almost like it enough as is to want you to keep it, but I can understand painting this one, vs perfect original paint trucks that get painted

Re: I think I may have finally found "the one"!

Don't want to hijack this thread!!! Stactic for now. 4.5- 4inch rear coils and 1.5 block. It had 3-4 springs when I got it. Otherwise stock. I am going to try to start a build page on it!!! Thanks Keith for input.

Re: I think I may have finally found "the one"!

Love the truck

I'm a fellow light blue owner as well. The color has really grown on me. They only offered the color through '69, so it isn't very common, which adds to the coolness factor. I don't think I've seen another light blue 67-72 in person, and I've seen a lot of these trucks in driving condition and at the junk yard.

Where the truck had the unfortunate fire incident, you're stuck with having to paint it, but one thing you might consider until you can get it painted professionally, is to head over to the paint area of napa. They still have the color codes in their books for 67-69 light blue, and for less than $20, they can mix up a can of spray paint for you, and you could paint over those primered areas.

Here's a shot of my firewall after I used a can they mixed up for me. My firewall had some brake fluid that ate away at the paint down to the bare metal, so I had no choice but to paint it.

Is this the paint scheme you're looking for? There's a guy in another thread that said he does rendering

Yes, that is the scheme I want to go with, except I'd stick with the white grill with chrome trim.
I initially thought about just painting what was damaged, but I'm not sure I can match the paint. The other part of it is that the roof, everything on the passenger side, and the gate would have to be painted just to get it back one color, so that's not far from being the whole truck! -lol The dent in front fender has been primed over also, so I just think I'll go ahead and go all the way with it.
I aprreciate the tip on the spray can stuff though. That might be great for cleaning up my firewall as well.

That truck is a dead ringer(minus fleet bed) for the truck that made me fall for this body style.Looks like a very cool ride and should be tons of fun,if your daughter lets you keep it.
