Re: 262's 1970 GMC

rebuilt the carb, fixed the choke, and an exhaust leak. then, I made a table of ECM connections for the 4200 ECM. I found out today that the oil pan rail on the 4200 is flat, which should make fabricating a pan much easier than I previously thought.

Re: 262's 1970 GMC

Drove the truck a little over 1100 miles this last week, burnt a bunch of oil, but still managed 15.5 MPG, on part of the drive I managed 17.5 MPG! bear in mind though, my average speed was 50 MPH... I think that with the I6 fuel injected engine, and overdrive (w/lockup converter) transmission, I should be able to net about 22 MPG hwy at 70 MPH.

Re: 262's 1970 GMC

Hello, my name is Eric, and I have a problem...

lol...

I bought a second 70 GMC, this one is a 3/4 ton though. It's got a strong running 400 SBC, 700r4, dana 60 (full floating!) power brakes, a/c, a nice bench seat, and lots of other **** I needed for my 1/2 ton. the body on this one is toast though, full of holes, beyond repair, so the plan is to swap all the good parts from this truck to the 1/2 ton.

on another note, if anyone in the southeast is looking for 5 lug disk brake parts, I'll be selling my soon, either with the parts truck, or separate. not sure yet...

Those two plugs on the firewall were timing plugs something to do with the early emissions stuff it was new for the 70 350. My 70's both had them. Nice 4 eyes! Love the GMC's! Jim

thanks, it'll be one nice one and one damn near scrapyard condition when I'm done, I plan to sell the 1/2 ton as a parts truck with a title once this phase is complete.

Re: 262's 1970 GMC

working on a set of custom engine stands for the atlas swap...

first design looked good, but very flawed dimensionaly.

Second design looked better, but still had issues.

hopefully 3rd time is a charm. (not done yet...)
