Im 46, will be 47 next month. I have 2 teens in HS...18 & 16....sometimes I wonder if I've done RIGHT with these two. Only GOD...and another parent... know the joys...and the heartaches that go with them. I've got them each a truck...ie PROJECT...that we work on. Yes, I do believe there is a 'burn-out' period, but I tend to think it's more of a 'prioritization'...mostly to try and figure out WHAT to do next. Their trucks are also...my GETAWAY...it's amazing just how MUCH stress you can relieve....just talkin to that old truck.
After a 16 yr break....my wife and I have another baby on the way. I just hope and pray GOD gives me the strength, patience, and enough life span to have a project with this one....in about 12 to 18 yrs.
Money....if it's there.....it's there....if not....somehow, we'll survive. My wife, and soon to be 3 sons....are the ONLY things...I cant replace.
Hang in there....it'll work out. It always does!

...ain't this a wonderful place!!!

I started this thread, and it has been inspiring to read the comments that have been made, knowing that there are others who read, but didn't comment.

So, we do what we can, prioritize and adjust. We are there for each other, even if only on a message board. That's cool. We are teenagers and we are almost as old as dirt. We work. We play. We're employed. We're retired. We are disabled. We are fit as a fiddle. We laugh. We cry. We hurt. We are real people, living life every day....maybe, not the way we prefer, but we take each day, one day at a time. Maybe today isn't the best day....let's see: Mom has cancer....daughter lost her job. Whatever it is, it only lasts as long as today. Tomorrow is a NEW day.

And our trucks? Well, they will last through the day, too. And, if not, so what. It won't be the end of the world. Our families are a most important part of our lives. Those of you who are young, i.e., you are single, still in school, or whatever: You'll learn. If you don't already know, your parents love you.

You can get burned out on any thing....just don't let it be your family.

Another idea for you. Check the local high schools and see if they need teachers aids in the vocational programs. We call them ProTechs here. I did this for a while in the autobody program. It pays about $11 per hour and you get the summers off. I know how you feel, been there.
