Re: You have to love small town America !
I grew up in south texas i the country between two towns with populations around 300 each. My folks owned a little grocery store in one town for a while. We knew everybody and vice versa. My high school class had 59 kids. The county seat, Edna had and still has a popularion of around 5500. I miss small town but no way to make a decent living.

Love the story.Glad you got everything worked out.I just have one question. You did send a covered dish to the dinner also didn't you/That would be the ultimate small town sign of class.

Re: You have to love small town America !
I would have but they are 160 miles north of me and the delivery charge could have been high ! I think driving up there this summer and taking them for a ride and out to dinner would be fun !

Re: You have to love small town America !
Well ... I went and picked up the '67 short bed yesterday and it came with 2 nice extra front fenders , 3 extra doors and about 2,000 Hot rod /Super Chevy / Car Craft etc etc magazines dating back to the 70's and I haven't even opened a few of the boxes yet ! Score one for Grumpy !!! I'll post pictures later tonight ! I'm picking up the '69 3/4 ton 350 4 speed complete truck Saturday and a short wide bed I bought in Franklin NC Sunday ! I'll have to wait for a week to pick up the '67 6 4 speed long bed I bought out of Asheville NC . I found a total of 6 trucks spread out over a few states should be enough to build 2 good '67 short bed small window trucks and have a ton of good metal to sell if anyone wants or needs doors /fenders ,just about anything !

Re: You have to love small town America !
Great story and I'm glad for you, but you should be aware you are very lucky. Most vehicles bought without proper paperwork never get titled due to the nonchalance of civil service employees. it's so much easier for them to say no than get off their butts and do a little research for their employer-the taxpayer!

Great story!
I grew up in one of those small towns...right between Franklin and Asheville I live in another small town now...we went out to eat last night and it took 15 minutes to walk to our table for stopping and speaking to everyone we knew.

Re: You have to love small town America !
Good find Grumpy, Cool story too!
Years ago I built this Orange 67 small window before the Blue 68 large window I have now. My youngest son, then in High School. "borrowed" the 67 without my permission and wrecked it (Totaled) on a snowy day. I made him re-build it, for a lesson in appreciation. It took Two years and parts from 5 Trucks to get it done including a Mail-Order fender from a Nebraska wrecking yard, I loved it though. I was born in Libertyville, Illinois, our relatives all lived in Lake Villa, Illinois, Pop then was about 900. I Love Small Town America! Have a Great Christmas and New Year!! - Lee
