Re: When The World Was Square

That is a neat nostalgic picture Tim! Perfect timing to snap that one. I love your old truck, 83/84 grills with the full width body color power bar (as Chevrolet called it) are my all-time favorites of the square grills

Here is a nostalgic picture of my brothers new at the time 1977 K10 next to my dad’s buddy’s 1976 K10. Picture was taken at my dad’s Exxon station. Both the same color, both 400/TH350/NP203. The '76 didn't have the optional hood stripes though.

And a new at the time 1977 Gvan

Re: When The World Was Square

That sure was when the world was square! Those are great trucks. I remember when these things were all over, everyone had one, every shape and form. They were just THE GM Truck for big segment of our lives. I was shocked when they changed the trucks. I think I believed they would never change.

No; by 1991 I was already at the Desert Proving Ground. I was doing brake and driveline development on these trucks at that point.

I should have taken my square to my Senior prom (May '93). The smog pump on my Z28 locked up and caused a small underhood fire, in the rain. My '75 Blazer would have had no such trouble. I was rocking the mullet as well.

Re: When The World Was Square

When the world was square is when the world was mullet. I personally never wore a mullet. I just always asked them to leave it a little longer in the back
This would have been '83. Mahoghany w/Buckskin interior '78 Silverado 454 all the bells and whistles. I had just bought it. I did a Rancho drop kit on it soon after: axle flip brackets, instructions on cutting coils, and part #s for shocks that work with it. I had the upholstery shop do a black tonneau cover and heated the motor/trans/rear up. These were scanned from faded old pictures. That paint was like glass. I washed and waxed it every week.(Pic taken on construction site)

Re: When The World Was Square

I stopped wearing a mullet the day I ran over it with a creeper under a truck at work. I was also going bald early (20), so it was time. I didn't want to look like the guy that would be cruising schools in a van eventually. I did have a few Trans Ams after shedding the mullet, though.
