Thanks buddy. Will do. Got home on Monday evening, and there was a parcel from the USA in the parcel box outside the house. Started making dinner as I was in first, and actually "forgot" about the parcel. 25 minutes later Nicola walked in and we chatted for a minute before she asked "what's in the parcel?" To which i replied..... "Oooopps, forgot about it with starting the dinner, probably from Don in Arkansas, please open it for me" Of course, she opened it while I maintained focus on the stove, next up she said..... "Oh look, he sent you a T-shirt and a Bandanna for me" which of course in this house is fact, everywhere else, she would have been sent to bed without dinner. So after dinner she already had her bandanna on (while we were eating) I tried my T-Shirt for size and we took a quick pic for Don to "Thank you mate" Last night I came home before her and when I put my work shirt in the laundry basket, which is in her "walk in wardrobe" I saw the bandanna proudly hanging with her other hats (she is one of very few women I know that can wear a hat and look good in it) so I reclaimed it and went to the garage with it hidden in my pocket, to get on with the petrol pump build. When I cam up to the house later to cook dinner ( I do a mean stirfry chicken) I put the bandanna on. She saw it and took a sneaky pic before plucking it from my head and tucking it in under her clothes saying "MIIIIIINE !" After work I managed to cut and sand, prep and undercoat the backing to the pump dial, as well as cutting and prepping the clear perspex for the front. Now in two minds between mounting it outside the front or cutting a hole and fitting it from the inside, which is probably the better way. Paint booth on the work bench:

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
Today was catch up time.
Loads of little jobs got done. I started by turning up a bit of Oak to be the base for the Belisha beacon (Google it) in the shed, forgot how much I enjoy working wood. Trial fit. Also dismantled my £5.00 petrol pump nozzle. Polished, and polished...... Trust me, it is a lot better now. Also made the rest for the nozzle out of a bit of 2 inch square tubing, and fitted, then repainted it, as well as the base, which should look like a bit of ally now. I had painted the fuel pipe elbow in gold before, but redid it in silver too. Lastly, I had also undercoated and then top coated the beacon to get it white. I do like it White vs Yellow. Next up I need to get a light fitting in there, and fit all the outside bits and decide what to do with the dial.

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
Once again today was bootfair first, then some garage time, doing various things, but also worked on the pump.
Fitted some parts as a mock up after prepping them recently. Followed by some angle grinder action. I also fitted the dial, clear screen and cut and prepped the dummy frame for the dial. Got to wait for the silicone I used to fix the glass, and backing plate, to dry before I carry on with it. Hopefully I will be onto it by next weekend.

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
Been pressure cleaning the deck, furniture and repairing and painting all the stuff.
While waiting for paint to dry today I also applied the stickers I had made this week by a mate on the body of the dummy pump. Other side...... I still need to draw up the design and hand paint the Belisha beacon. But am procrastinating.

Today was Wheels day in Surrey, and the Autojumble threw up this gem for £1.00 It will become the top attachment for the filler pipe on the side of the cabinet. Painted silver it should fool the eye. Nicola also made me buy and wear this brass badge all day..... So bit by bit it is coming together.

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
This came to Grizz Towers this week while I was away.
Lewis123 offered these bits out free from an aborted project months ago, loads of talk but no takers. I had scored a free wood lathe and he offered to meet up with Nicola while I was away at work this week to trade the two piles of junk. I am hoping to add the 10hp mower engine, and rear drive axle off a ride on mower to the disability scooter I recently got. I will leave them alone and try to finish some of the other random jobs I need to do around the garage and shed first. On Wednesday night I was out for a work meeting about 3hrs from home when I got a call just after 9pm from an unnamed benefactor to ask where he could put some skip treasures he had saved for me from a job. When I got home on Thursday afternoon, this lot was waiting for me. Can only say I was a happy man. Of course I had to try out the one Belisha Beacon on the dummy pump. Fit, ratio is better than the IKEA light I recently bought.

The red sign is a "No Entry" usually at One Way streets etc. The yellow beacon is the light topper from a pedestrian crossing. Google up "Belisha Beacon" Traffic lights are cool but rather large. I want to set up one down at the garage and will be moving one on. Probably to my buddy Martin. What I wouldlove to find for another buddy is a 450mm high 1/3 size light. They exist but not here in the UK.

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
Missed out on posting this pic last night.
Hole cut in the front. After that, I stuck the recessed face behind the perspex. In the mean time I made up a the frame to go around the face. After work tonight I went and fixed it to the front as well. Once fixed to the front I also did another coat of silver. next pic tomorrow.

Re: "Star Brand" Replica Retro Fuel Pump Build.
You wish...... Getting there. Not much to see, but fiddled around a bit after work. And of course a Photobomb on the other side. Harley...... Next up I have to figure out getting the sign writing. Looking at free hand drawing it up and hand painting..... surely, if it was done this way a long time ago, I can give it a go. Vinyl would be nice and quick though.
