This top is permanent. I didn't really care to much about the convertible part. I Suppose someone could build one like this but surely the top would be to heavy. At this point it will get the Bel Air inspired trim. Originally we were going to air brush the trim but Steve wants to build it. Steve and Rodney are the ones responsible for the work. Rodney is the one facing the camera and you can see Steve's back. They have taken good care of me and I sure won't be takeing credit for thier work.

There is no doubt they are craftsmen of the trade Brad. Who did the rendering anyway? I noticed you have a full scale drawing on the wall too. It looks like the shop has their chit together.

If you could see me right now, I would look really green to you. That is the color of pure envy....

It's pretty cool though when people like what you are doing. I mentioned to Rodney the other day that you can't say it was built by GM anymore........it's a Steve and Rodney creation.

Gary Constable is the artist. He does really good work. The rendering was the best money spent so far. It helps you establish a theme and stick with it. I have saved so much money because I stuck with the plan and didn't redo things because I changed my mind. We actually had two fullsize drawings. Somehow Gary gets the drawing to scale then we had it blown up to fullsize. There was a lot of measuring done on the drawings and one got cut up and used kind of like a pattern.

My first attempt at this I took it out of state to a shop with very good reputation. I still can't figure out why it sat there so long with nothing getting done. Then I find Steve basically here in my back yard. Sometimes things just work out the way they are supposed to.

Is that the guy who had the Gold 92ish 2 door Tahoe with the Escalade front in Truckin' magazine a while back? He was from the OKC area, too.

My next step is to get a local artist to do a rendering, and scale drawing of my 82, just for that reason. The problem is you have to have the project moving at a decent pace, or the concept becomes out dated, or gets done by someone else first.

My original intent was to restore my Blazer with just a few mods to clean it up, and drop it on 18's and 20's. That plan got lost along the way, and the body mods started getting added.

It's time to re-group, since I bought the 77, and get a new and improved plan. Somehow I get a feeling this is going to get (even more) expensive....

Yea now that you have that clean stock bodied ride you can go wild

Custom Concepts is within a mile of Steve's shop. They can do nice paint but are not on the same level as Steve. Funny thing is that Kevin is building a truck specifically to beat mine. Not sure what his motivation is but it is amuseing.

Here is some of steve's work.

brad is familiar with custom concepts work, they did the flamed blue truck he previously owned. nice truck yes, but certainly not on the same level as the jimmy.

Here is some of steve's work.
From what I have seen, Kevin Cox, and Jason Hill (Hill's Hot Rod shop) are having a contest to see who can crank out the most cars/trucks in a short time.

They both do good work, but in most cases the cars are what I call "turn and burn" cars. They find a clean car, throw some nice paint on it, big wheels, bags, and a little interior work. Then they show them, sell them, and move on to the next one.

The Tahoe was an exception, but a customer paid for a big percent of the mods before Kevin traded his Vette for it.

On the other hand, I have seen Steve's work on the yellow and white 55. I had no idea he was responsible for that car. I spent quit a bit of time admiring the endless small details that were involved in it's build up. It is truly an amazing car...

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Yeah, that is the gold Tahoe I was thinking of. I just knew that they were in OKC. I didn't know that there were that many shops up there like that. A good friend of mine lives in Yukon, but he is more into 4WD and dirt toy stuff.

I have seen the red 55 at the Autorama down here. It loks like that is where that picture was taken. What an awesome car. With the body mods, I think your Jimmy will look even better than that.
