I would look into some kind of auto body epoxy they use now instead of all of the welding....

in the drip rail i made when removing the original roof first

Here's a trick for other people if they are replacing the outer skin.. If u use a cut off wheel with a thicker wheel on it u can grind the spot welds.. But that's ONLY on the skin that you are getting rid of u don't do it to the "new" skin.. Grinding them will take way less time than a normal spot weld bit... Im a collision tech and I do it once or twice a week on panels definitely saves time..just my 2 cents

used my flat hammer to remove some of the small dent in the doner top
some welding and grinding mostly the holes i made to remove the old top
and the rusted front corners of drip rail

Treated the underside of the top with rust converter Phosphorous acid
