Re: CL 8.1 496! For $1000!!!!!!

My Dad had one in a 1 ton. The thing ran pretty good and had lots of nuts. Would pass anything but a gas station.

Anyway, it doesn't have any of the good things that make the LS series so superior to the old small block. If it had variable cam timing and LS style heads and ports and six-bolt cross-drilled mains and so on, ok. But it doesn't. It's just a factory big block updated to run with modern electronics and produce a lot of low end torque for trucks.
Alright, I'll just stop talking now, haha... My ignorance is showing

Welding is a lot like sex, you don't have to be great with the rod as long as you thoroughly prep the surface and your good at grinding
My build : 68 C10 Short Bed Conversion

I don't know, but if someone does confirm it's real and no one else here needs it, I'll go buy it. I'm local. If only my truck ran, but alas, no. I've hauled engines in the back of my wife's Suburban, but she doesn't like it.

... no offense to your wife, I'm sure she is a lovely lady...but who cares if she doesn't like it, besides it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission

Hell, for that price you could go rent a truck from home depot, or show up with a bicycle pulling one of those trailers like a homeless guy.

Imagine the look on peoples faces if you were peddling down the street with a vortec big bloc behind you and a smile from ear to ear

Re: CL 8.1 496! For $1000!!!!!!

I did send him an email, but since I'm local if its a scam he'd want nothing to do with me. Said I'd pay cash and come pick it up, but no response.

Judging by his ad you would think he'd be in a hurry to sell this and get back to people, but yea, this seems like a scam. Too bad, could have been a great deal.
