Re: Swapping manual to power seats

Ok. Do you think I have a bad seat? I looked and the passenger seat has only two wires and they are red with a white line and black wire

Re: Swapping manual to power seats

My passenger seat had 6 or 8 wires and it worked fine, but the drivers had about 200 wires. I was told by 2 good chevy mechanics that the only way to get them to work was to rewire the whole assembly and bypass all the computer stuff. so it was a lot easier for me to bring them back and look for a non memory set

Re: Swapping manual to power seats

I just took the lrg red hook to 12v + and lrg black to 12v- then started adding wires to the + side till the seat moved then started removing other wires till it stopped moving and those are the ones you need for your seat. I used a jump box for testing. All functions work and they are memory seats that I have.

Re: Swapping manual to power seats

probably not a bad seat, it's just going to take some work to get it operational
if that is above your skill set then try to take it back

realistically you have 3 motors with 2 wires each
figure out how to hook up 2 wires to a motor to test it

Re: Swapping manual to power seats

I guess I had a bad seat! They let me bring it back and they had a lot more seats come in and we found one that would plug right into my truck and worked fine.
I would like to thank everyone for y'all's help!!!

Re: Swapping manual to power seats

I realize that the OP has his issue worked out, but I thought I would post my rendition of wiring the same type seat.

I used 99 Cadillac seats that also had the memory position sensors. I eliminated the memory wiring part and wired them with new switches. I used one rocker switch for each motor, with the switch reversing the polarity of the motors.

It actually worked well, and I was able to fit the switches where the openings of the old switches went.
