Re: Chevy c10 truck wilwood d52 aluminum calipers
SKORPIOSKORPIO,
I appreciate your comments. I have 40 plus years of high performance experience including vice president of a high performance brake company. I have worked and/or been associated with nearly any kind of race vehicle you can name from NASCAR, NHRA, monster trucks, sprint cars, late model dirty, land speed cars, off road trucks and buggys, motorcycles and even a racing snow mobile. My comments were intended to help guys not spend big bucks for very little return. That is the reason I called it "snake oil". (There is usually a lot of promise but not much in return.) Regard, Bob

Re: Chevy c10 truck wilwood d52 aluminum calipers
Well I got the brakes al swapped out. It didn't go as smooth as I had hope but I gotter done!
The original booster and master cylinder was all standard fittings, the new one was all metric fittings. Had to put new lines down to the a arm also. While I was doing it I went a head and swapped the rear rubber hose tee out for the stainless one I've had now for over a year. Everything is tight with no leaks so far. Going for a short ride and check everything again. Had to use the old valve since the brake switch wouldn't fit the new one. I may order one if I can find one. O-Reilly's didn't have it and couldn't order it. If anybody has a lead on one LMK.

Very shiney, looks great, I think you're all set for whatever brakes you could want at this point.

Re: Chevy c10 truck wilwood d52 aluminum calipers
Wilwood D52 replacement calipers have slightly LESS clamping force then your stock cast iron calipers. Clamping force of a brake caliper is directly proportional to the surface area of the piston(s). That Wilwood D52 has a total surface area of 6.28", your stock caliper has 6.78" +1 point for stock.
Wilwood caliper is a little lighter in weight, +1 for Wilwood. You'll find the aluminum body has a little more flex then the cast iron body, +1 for stock. dual piston may give more even pad wear, +1 wilwood. Wilwood caliper does not use dust seals +1 stock. Bottom line is you're buying looks, which I'm not against but you won't stop any better.

Yea I just have to decide what I want to do. The big brakes would be very nice. I'm going to call the place you told me about tomorrow and see what he can do.
