I've never used it before but I heard great reviews on it. I'm hoping it works really well

Re: My 72 gmc build

Love it man! Nice looking k2500. I'm going after a 72 k/20 Cheyenne this weekend. Most love these trucks low and fast I like them 4x4!

That's not too bad, is that including the overdrive?

Re: My 72 gmc build

Well, about the only thing I accomplished last night was setting my carburetor on fire in an attempt to start my engine for the first time in five months. That was interesting, to say the least

We've all been there at one time or another... I lost my eyebrows and part of my beard from a backfire thru the carb. Good times haha

Something more dumb can always be done, like trying to light cardboard on fire downwind with gas...

Re: My 72 gmc build

I got the truck running really good with the help of a friend the other day. I will say it is WAY too loud with just open headers. With all that said and done, I was able to cruise around in it a little bit. The ranger overdrive is going to be great once the truck is really back on the road.
I also had to go buy a brand new passenger side door and fender today. It wasn't any fun being out another $500 after I thought my parts were ok to use

Thanks! I hope it will be; I've been slowly building it bit by bit for almost three years!

Re: My 72 gmc build

Does the ranger overdrive just bolt up to the 350? or did you have to buy some kind of adapter? I have a '72 Chev I might be interested in doing a ranger overdrive to it.

It bolts in between the bell housing and the transmission. You wll have to modify the turtle shell that bolts to the floor, have the length of your driveshaft(s) modified and most likely buy a longer speedometer cable, but as far as fancy adapters go, you don't have to

Re: My 72 gmc build

I built that thing my sophomore year of high school. It's built entirely of schedule 40 pipe and double wall tube. Weighs about 275 pounds

Nice sounds like a plan. Thanks for the info. And good luck as you continue to do yours

Re: My 72 gmc build

I know it's been a while, but here is an update to my build. It took three years, but my truck is basically brand new again. With over 1,000 hours and $7,000 invested, it was well worth the time and money spent
