Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
I'll counter those that didn't see anything they liked.....
I liked them all. Laid-out w/big wheels is about as cookie-cutter as all stock or lifted w/35's. Those that did so, thanks for sharing the pics.

Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
Could anyone estimate the tire and wheel size on that quad cab? Would like to do something similar on my 68, love how they fill up the wheel wells.

Looks like late model truck size.... Prob 275/55 (or 60) 20's.

Grant Kustoms (on Instagram) was talking about how he reskined all four doors of that crew cab. I wonder if he will put them into production.

I dig that truck too,but to me it looks dated. But todays trend is tomorrows old news. I'm sure in a couple years the big wheel look will be gone and the next trend will be plastered all over the forums. |

That aqua color is gorgeous, if I wasn't restoring Gramps truck to Huggar, Id almost certainly paint mine two-tone aqua/white.

Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
Thanks! Looks like they don't have it in production. Makes me kinda wonder how many people really have the stomach to drive a jeep on top of their rig like that, and if there's much demand. It's quite a climb, you'll know it when you get out. Me, I love it!

So many people in the pics. I thought Sema was only open to industry people no walk ins off the street.

Thanks for the pics! Had not seen the one with the radial aircraft engine completed. Looks awesome! Tootsie is still my favorite though.
The bar is being raised extremely high on truck builds. There are some very talented people, turning out some serious eye candy right now. I love them all! |

Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
Yeah, me too. I appreciate the craftsmanship, but now that everyone is different by being the same, I'm getting tired of that look.
Here's what happens: a look will catch on and will be executed further and further until it reaches excess. That's where we're at now, I think. These aren't just upsized wheels, they're cartoons. Back in the 80s (90s?) SoCal scene wheels kept getting smaller and smaller until they were 10 inches. Then eventually Dubs were double that (20") and eventually 26" was the thing to have and I have no idea what's on them now. Do you know what happened to ProStreet? The Dobbertin J2000, that's what. It was the ProStreet movement pushed to ragged excess. The engineering (if it had run correctly, no idea) was spectacular and the look was way over the top. I'm not hating on anyone who likes or owns trucks in the ala mode style, just watching from the sidelines as I have a number of other styles that have come and gone. It takes me so long to build a truck that if I targetted a style it'll pass before I'm done!

Conversely, though, and I'm not saying it's what -you- meant, but I love when people get mad because they go to a seriously crowded place like Disneyland and get mad they can't get a picture without people in it!

Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
That looks like a foolish way to carry a Jeep. I hope to never see one of those on the road.
SEMA is the aftermarket industry voice and body. They protect our rights to own whatever vehicle we want and do what we want to them, in spite of those who don't agree. I'm into these trucks more than parts to change them. The changes I like have been around, so not much for my taste. But I am always interested in seeing new ideas and products. And every now and then there's a new product I could put to use.

Nope, all I meant was I would really love to go to this, but I'm not directly involved in any automotive business. I was always under the assumption only people involved in the business were allowed in. When you see the masses of people it would amaze me if they were all directly involved in the automotive business. So if this is somehow open to the public, or they have lacks rules ... Im going =)

I've been, they were pretty strict. I went with friends that had to pre-register who was attending and then we had to show ID when we got our passes at check-in.

Re: SEMA 2014 Las Vegas C10 Pictures
Sema is car guy heaven, you can go on the grounds but there is guards at every door. My son even got checked because his badge was not showing.
The parade of cars as they leave the convention center was really cool. 1500 cars of every type car or truck you could think of. Even the battery powerd big foot monster truck. I did not see this truck GM truck in the parade or the c10 with the air plain engine |
