Actually, I was thinking just the opposite. It needs nothing. Just run it as-is.

Looks like a nice survivor. I'd also run it as is or restore. But I am too old school for my own good.

I agree, but then, it's not mine, so I'm depressed.

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

It'll stay basically as is for quite some time.... I have the heater core at a radiator shop trying to get it fixed. It's right at 15 degrees here today!! Needing to install seatbelts and recover my seat for now. Do the full foam 67-72 seats have the same foam as the earlier deluxe seats? Also I've read for days on seatbelt options with no idea what I wanna use. Thinking bout some stock style 67-72 for now till I decide

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

Seatbelts on some modern lift trucks are really close to the original Irving Airchute Co. who supplied GM.

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

I like it a lot, but I am partial to '63's. I also like it the way it is, but that is me. Enjoy it and I hope you have as many years of fun with it as I've had with my '63.

Wholly crap what a nice ride! Where do you guys find these trucks??? Up here in the great white north you would never find such a truck! The rust I'm dealing with on my build is really testing me!

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

Wow. Thanks for the detail pics on factory accessory install. I haven't been on this end of the board much. Is finding a nice original set about as hard and expensive as finding factory shoulder belts for 67-72? I would like to keep my interior as close to factory as possible.

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

The webbing in 63 has 5 distinct webs. 62 has the same buckle and clasp but the webbing is course and woven in one pass. Ebay Irving Airchute Model IC5000 something like that. They make the small Chevrolet Sticker repro and the Clasp has a chrome like finish. 64 was painted.

Re: Rust free 63 chevy shortwide

Thanks for the info Aerotruk63.

Well I got my heater all put back together and was working ok but just wasn't blowing as hot as I wanted. I went to parts store to pick up a hotter thermostat. I bought a 195 degree one and when I went to install it I found my problem.... PO had removed it! She's blowing hot now! Also pulled the aftermarket am radio and put the delete plate back on dash. One clip was missing so I rigged one up from a dr pepper can and small bolt until I can find another. Haha
