I did a raised floor. Strong enough to hold a human and a motorcycle or a fully dressed LS engine. Build thread in signature

It all depends on how it's done.

The original pics showed the body lift pucks & an original floor cut out between the wheel tubs. My warning was if the lift puck method is used or just raising a steel floor as a faux floor & rewelding it higher, it should be braced additionally or it can bow.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Yes, I saw the pic but didn't read any mention about the need for bracing. I mentioned it because I didn't want those who were asking the question to skip past possible steps in the process.

Re: Cutting Bed for Laying Frame.......Question

While I'm no expert fabricator I was able to fashion a raised bed support in just a few hours last night for 100 bux worth of 1" square tubing. For the inner bedside panels I'm just gonna bead roll them and brake a 90 in the bottom and bolt them to he original bedside. Here's what I've got. And the middle raises to gain access to the compressors and fuel systems. I'm having some 1.5" round tube bent to support this steel bed frame. Then I'll fill in any cross pieces needed for support after that is all installed. I'll finish it all off with a hood latch to hold the middle down.

Here's how I'm doing mine. I pretty much copied what Seth did on Olrosa.

Re: Cutting Bed for Laying Frame.......Question

Here's what I've done so far. I've been working on this here and there throughout the weekend. We just had a baby so my work will remain intermittent. I drew a side profile pattern of some bent 1.5" roll bar tubing. Bent them up and left the legs of each long so I could adjust the height to fit. Welded brackets using existing frame holes for the lower part of each leg. All I did to set the height was clamp a straight edge to the top of the upper bag mount and measured up on each leg for the appropriate height. Adding an inch to clear the line fitting for the bags. I left these straight edged in place while gabbing up the brackets to assure I was maintaining the correct height. All in all I have a few hours in it. The middle of the frame frame will fold up like a car hood to gain access to fuel tank and air ride. The forward most bed support will also double as a mount for the tanks and compressors and vu4 manifold. If you have any questions on this shoot me a message and I can provide dimensions or answers the best I can.

Re: Cutting Bed for Laying Frame.......Question

Keep in mind I've never done much metal fab before so if you think this is too much to tackle you're are doubting yourself. I've managed to do all of this in a two car garage with minimal tools and a little ingenuity. One more of the rear

Re: Cutting Bed for Laying Frame.......Question

22" transit wheels with old beat up hub caps. The wheels come black then I painted them white and took a little white back off to reveal some black in spots. I had to fashion up the hubcap clips to fit which was the hardest part. Here is a pic of them before I took the white back off.

The wheels and the metal fab work look real nice. I'd like to see some pictures as it progresses. Congrats on the baby too!
