Naturally after laying fresh new paint, the next logical thing to do is....cut a whole in it.

Measure and prep work for rear cargo/3rd brake light

Still plugging away.

First time painting final color on the truck. Got a couple runs in the clear, but nothing wet sanding can't fix

Hope to paint the cab in the next day or two.

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

Got the cab painted

Today I put the bed (and wheels) on it. Feels like I was actually getting the truck back together vs still taking it apart. Now I'm hoping to start adding more and more parts to the project.

Going to switch gears and start doing some wood working on my bed floor.

It is looking really good! the bed is going to be awesome. What kind of stance do you have in mind for it?

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

Had a little snow ball affect...

Thought I'd swap out my steering wheel and paint the column quick.

That turned into a shot upper bearing. When I pulled the whole column, I found a dry as a bone lower bearing, no shift bushings, and a rag joint that is toast.

Next thing you know, this happened and a full rebuild is on the schedule

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

Still slowly working away. Got the steering column painted and mostly put back together. The upper bearing (the one that started the whole rebuild) ended up being on backorder for a month.

Still fitting pieces of the wood bed.

Also trying to get the dash and wiring all sorted out.

I'm liking your gauge set up, simple and to the point. Nice work man

So one thing that I've been toying with is that the wheels are too close of a match to not match. Basically I've been toying with the idea of painting the centers to get a greater contrast. Crazy idea?

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

This is my last part to sand and get into epoxy primer.

Hopefully I'll have a batch of stuff to paint (hood, cowl, fenders, doors, tailgate) and get this truck back together and on the road soon.

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

Its gray.

I've been side tracked with some of the honey-do-list chores around the house (replaced the fence, built a pergola, upgraded the side gate, and built some gopher proof planter beds), so I haven't been near the garage for a while.

Plan is to finish the paint in July and assembly in early Aug. Hopefully make the maiden voyage before the end of summer!

I did take the plunge and painted the wheels...

Re: 1972 C10 ... SoCal BBC/TH400

I don't want to jinx myself, but I am hoping to drive the truck on its maiden voyage in the next 2-3 days!

No outside full pics, but here it is using up all the parts I've been collecting.
