Re: We All Need To Pickup The Phone One In A While ?

I'm a talker too, like to kid around, and banter with those who I feel I know. I like to received e-mails, or phone calls. On public forums, I'm a little reluctant, as has been discussed before, a poky comment to a friend may appear to others as a smart-alec response. I don't know the icon stuff, so don't attempt to use them. Spelling and punctuation: In the military, in the early 60s, I was supposed to be a truck-driver, but they learned I had some typing in hi-school, so stuck me in as a correspondence clerk, so had to be fairly clear, if possible. (you should have seen some commo handed me by Officers, to interpret and type for mail??!) I guess I'm stuck and resistant to change, but many times the new ways are far quicker and easier to use, so I'll just adapt, slowly, to them, and have my 3rd grade grandkids show me how to turn the durn things on. Interesting post and comments, Thanks

Re: We All Need To Pickup The Phone One In A While ?
With 4 kids, 99% of the time a phone call is not an option. At least email, txt etc still keeps us in touch. However, I agree that talking is nice time to time.. I just prefer that time to be in person, not via any device.
I am seriously impressed that you give your number with a pending deal. If more folks did so or asked for them, we would have very few "bad deals". Most of those stem from blindly sending folks money with no contact info. |

I hate talking on the phone and would much rather do business by email, text, pm, or in person.

Meeting board members and talking trucks is cool but even better when you talk or do non-truck stuff.
I've made some good friends here and get all antsy to meet them in person. I have a tendency to chat with about anyone. It gets my wife when I go run a short errand to the grocery store and come home an hour or more later. " I ran into (insert name here) and we got to talking". My son just shakes his head when we go out. "Do you know everyone." But yeah, the dealing is where I like to keep in verbal contact and show courtesy the whole time. Just a couple weeks ago I sold a shot she'll reloader to a guy from a gun board. We must have talked 8 or 10 times for that one transaction. Tim (specialK) I'd call you sometime but I don't have your number

Re: We All Need To Pickup The Phone One In A While ?
I called a local guy this morning and left a message about some wheels I was interested in (craigslist) and he called me back later as he was at work .We arranged to meet at his home later when he got off work. When I pulled into his driveway ,before he even came out of the house I knew I would be there a while. He had things displayed everywhere that we had in common among several nice rides to check out and this was just on the outside.Come to find out most were his wife's creations and she is quite talented ,she is an auto painter and fabricator and inside the house and shop were even cooler than what was outside .Yes ,I bought the wheels after we all talked for almost 3 hours and found out we had close friends in common as well as common taste in our toys and collections .Made new car and truck friends by a random phone call from a Craigslist add .

Re: We All Need To Pickup The Phone One In A While ?
I was talking with my wife about this thread the other day. She said that she thinks it is a "southern" thing. She is a born and bred South Texas girl and she loves to talk. I did note that there are several posts here from the southern states but also some from up north also. Personally, I think it is the automotive culture. We all love to talk about what we are doing, what we have done or what we want to do to our rides. Any time we can get together with like-minded people, there is bound to be some conversation and possibly a beverage or two being consumed.
I have been out in the garage working on my truck and have had people just pull into the driveway because they saw the truck and were curious. You never know when that first communication might make a lasting friendship.
