Re: Where can we find brass and copper heater cores?
Bummer. I'm still not sure why they would, and I'm somewhat fanatic about original parts. The aluminums are bad?

Re: Where can we find brass and copper heater cores?
I used an aluminum heater core from oreillys. Air gets hot (although I rarely need it) and it doesn't leak. Been a few years now, I'm not concerned about it.

Re: Where can we find brass and copper heater cores?
Just thought I'd throw in a bit of potentially positive news. I've been searching for a replacement heater core for my '72 with A/C and found an APDI/PRO unit on Rockautos website. The P/N is 9010121. The picture showed it being a copper bodied unit. I contacted APDI and the tech support person verified it is a copper unit.
I guess I should have asked if they have a non-A/C copper unit while I had him on the phone but didn't think of it until I started writing this post. If anyone wants to discuss with APDI, their number for tech support is 877-375-3954. Happy hunting. |

Re: Where can we find brass and copper heater cores?
No matter what metal is used, changing coolant every couple years helps eliminate a whole lotta problems. Old coolant gets pretty corrosive, and not just the radiators or heater cores get damaged, everything it touches is a candidate for brutality.

Re: Where can we find brass and copper heater cores?
I use distilled water, and the overflow is always clean. That said, last time I flushed the system, so of course tap water was left over. On topic, I wonder how much water is left over with the radiator drained?

This thread has indeed produced!
My local radiator shop found me one that is all copper. I haven't checked it for fit yet but I saved the receipt. |

Ben [/QUOTE Ben, that's not an original heater core. That's an aftermarket one. The factory originals were Harrison heater cores |
