Yes and I was surprised with the manual throttle myself. When I got in the truck I was like whats this guy. Ive had a 70 and 72 C series, and buddy of mine had a 70 GMC. Never seen one in these trucks.

Nope, it's a mechanical unit (no friction clutches) so no friction modifiers are required. Use your favorite gear oil.

Re: Need some help. 1971 K-20

Nice looking truck. It looks almost like my 72s twin. It used to be a fire truck in Hopewell VA. Even had the light bar on it when I brought it home. Mine was originally light blue but was repainted when the fire dept changed color schemes. We even have the same drivetrain, gears, and locker. I think you did pretty well. I would not waste the money on synthetic oil for the truck. Just go buy a 5 gallon bucket of gear oil and a hand pump and enjoy changing all the gear boxes and axles. There is no telling how much crap is inside the housings after 40 years.

Re: Need some help. 1971 K-20

I once read on this board that you could use a dear carcass as lubricant in the NP205 if you wanted to. I laughed out loud when I read that. I don't recall the poster.

Sweet truck!
