Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

I think you are getting some good advise, but that's all it is, is advice. Or our opinion. You are the one who has to live with it.
Here's what comes to my mind when I think of shop truck lettering. We all know it was recently drawn, but looks 100% correct.

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

Here's the pic I have of my grandpa standing in front of his '67. He bought the truck new and more than likely had the logo put on in the same year.

It just occurred to me, you don't need no chicken farmer area code or even a Harvard area code. Back then they didn't need to include that. Look at my pics and slowcpe's

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with my KL5-1967 #, I don't want people calling a real #, and 555-1967 is obviously fake, but even if it was being phased out by the time my truck was built, the KL5 designation looks pretty cool, plus I'm sure Taylors, SC was a little behind the times back then...

Tim, that's really cool seeing how different each truck was, yet it was all the same business name.

I'm really like the 2nd one.

I think I'm also going to bump up the size on the chevrolet logo a bit.

Well, Jena said no to putting it on my Z71.

My dad said the magnets were distracting... so kinda centered up with tape...

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

Looks good. I like the star. Maybe once it's done you could get some small pinstripe accent done in the area beside the bowtie.

I'm glad you appreciated the old work trucks. I first had all Medium Olive trucks, then transitioned to gold when I got the '70 C/30. Lettering always varied. When I ordered my '92 I couldn't get gold so I went to woodland green, but never lettered the truck. I wasn't sure I wanted to stay working for myself. I'm still not sure...lol. I started subcontracting from big remodel companies and they always asked if my trucks were lettered. They were glad to hear they weren't. But, i wouldn't put their magnets on my trucks, either. One company tried insisting and I told them, "You make the payments and I'll put your name on". Never heard another word about their magnets after that. I wanted silver with red outline for a tradition look on the dark green, plus the that would match the 6.5 Turbo Diesel stickers on the hood as well as GMC emblems. Then, I would have gotten blank magnets painted body color for when I worked for them. Never happened. I started going plain brown wrapper since then.

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

Logo looks great Jesse! Good job on the size also.
Any chance of reconsidering the KL letters. 2L-5N format (two letters, five numbers) phone numbers used the first two letters of the city, as the first two letters of the phone number. So the correct exchange for Taylors SC, would have been TA instead of KL. Anyone familiar with the 2L-5N format, like a old timer at a show, would know at a glance that KL5-1967 isn't possible for Taylors SC. It would of been TA5-1967. Just a thought.
The logo really does look great. Nice job on it. Can't wait to see it painted on your truck.

Not fictitious...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/ny...owns.html?_r=0

Being super accurate isn't really necessary... I mean... the whole thing is "fake" There was never a Jesse James Chevrolet Dealership in Taylors, SC.

Everyone is welcome here... no need to know an old song from the 80s... that just makes you cooler

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

I like the latest design the best.

Just my opinion. I think you should cut the design into three section.

Top section: enlarge the Jesse James and the Chrevrolet emblem.

Middle section: Location and phone number enlarged a little bit more and placed on the bottom portion of the bodyline of the door.

Lower section: Slogan should be also enlarged and placed on the top rear of the bedsides. Above or around the upper-body line.

My design has the same thing but with the area code. Right now it is only on the back of my shop coat. (201)-BH7-9410. Young people ask all the time what the heck the BH7 is. Growing up I was SL3- Sloatsburg. Of all the possible combinations for my phone number I liked BH (for Bone Head) the best.

Hey, if you like the Cocks... who am I to judge?

I don't want to cut anything up or anything below the door line. My long term plans include CST trim, and I don't want anything underneath that.

It will have "Parts Sales Service" on the bedside (well, step fenders).

I think this is it... Chevrolet Logo enlarged without really moving the letters, enlarged the star a good bit, and added a star between SC and the Phone #.

Re: I finally figured out my Shop Truck Logo...

I never knew the letters in the 2L-5N stood for your town. I just remember there was always a name made out of the two letters to help us kids remember our number. Mine was APpleton7-xxxx and Hyattsville was my address, which is a Maryland suburb of Washington,DC.
