Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
sounds like your rear rubber line may have collapsed.
you could try to disconnect it an see if you get juice. but if you broke one line you may break that one also. use plenty of lube. power breaks dont really play a part when bleeding except the lenght of the rod.

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
Update: replaced the brake booster, all brake lines and rubber lines, master cylinder (same as the one I started with which is new), new proportioning valve, calipers, brake cylinders and shoes.
Outcome... still do not have breaks. I am thinking I might have a problem with the new master cylinder. When I am trying to bleed the right rear brake I get a jet of fluid that comes up from the little pin hole in the front section of the master cylinder. So if I have it topped off it over flows a little. It should not be doing this correct? |

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
Thanks I double checked the push rod last night. I turned it out just far enough so it does not put the master cylinder in when installing it. This is the correct way to adjust it right?

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
You need a few thousands clearance between the pin and the bottom of the hole in the MC piston. Too much clearance will increase the brake pedal free-play. Too little clearance can cause the brakes to drag or even not release at all.
Pin check/adjustment and free-play on the other side of the booster should have been checked before you even started to bleed the brakes.

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
The pin has been adjusted correctly. I am thinking it might be a bad master cylinder. Going to be gone for a few days but when I get back next week will bleed a new MC and install it to see if that fixes my problem.

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
Sorry for the thread hijack, but I've really been having a lot of the same problems with my 67.
4 wheel drums. Replaced all lines(stainless) , hoses and hardware(wheel cyls, shoes, springs, etc) . New master..getting fluid but hardly any pressure on pedal. replaced mc. better pedal but still spongy. thought i would need to maybe readjust the shoes or maybe the pushrod? i'm stumped and insanely frustrated. Again, sorry for the hijack.. i'll make a new thread if it helps.. everything sounded like the crap i was going through.

Re: Need your advice guys! Can't bleed brakes Help
I have BRAKES!!! Man this was a pain in the butt. But now I have a completely new brake system. I decided to buy a master cylinder bleeding kit that comes with the two hoses. The cheap two plug kit that comes with the MC did not work. So I bled the MC with this new kit and it fixed my problems. Thanks to all for all of the help!
