I've never seen the two colors side by side, but I do think it is at least very similar to Forest Service green.

If you are going to cut one of the tops, I would do it to the '73 top. GM changed the tops for '75 to help prevent cracking on the back. For '73--74, the seams for the inner and outer shells are lined up with each other. For the '75 and newer trucks the seam on the inside shell was moved to the middle of the rear window and the outer seams stayed near the upper corners.
