Thanks.. I got it for a steal of a price too.
When I got it home and was able to discover it more, I found it had a few additions that led me to believe it may have been a forestry truck.

But the siren was the main give away.

Re: Reason behind extra tanks?

i'm from long island originally too...sure there were plenty of stations but in the early 70's almost all were 2-bay repair shops that also sold gas....and they closed early...if we needed gas after midnight there was only one station on the parkway that was open and it wasnt cheap....you have to see if the siren is hot wired to a dash knob or tied to door switches cause "on guard" brand car alarms used the same siren...my 69 camaro had one

The siren was wired to the horn button.
It's not a newer siren, as it sounds like the typical siren of the 60s 70s.
A slow gyrating wail.

I believe sirens on street cars is illegal.
I didn't remove it, but I did rewire the horn to work normally.

I ask because my 72 Highlander has 2 xtra tanks both with aluminum locking doors. They don't show on the SPID so I assume they are aftermarket but what does the factory xtra tank filler look like? Thanks
That is the factory aux. tank on the driver side. I meant the tanks with that type of filler (doors).

Re: Reason behind extra tanks?

I have a 72 C20 with the factory tank on the driver side. Not only was the tank factory, there is a switch in the instrument panel that changed the gauge from one tank to the other.
