Re: Snorkel & Waterproofing for 73-87 K30
Rootbreakers truck is a beast. Come high water that's the truck to make a water crossing. Are those still 40" ground hawgs on it?
As for trail riding around here if you go out and can't cross three feet deep water, you will be turning around every half mile or so with all the small streams getting overloaded with passing storms. If the water don't get you , the mud will. |

Re: Snorkel & Waterproofing for 73-87 K30
Some of the Toyotas that you see with snorkels really are designed to do that, but they are also diesels. You have an electrical cut-off switch so all electircal is dead before you submerge......
Also for those gasoline versions, the snorkels really help reduce IAT's, especially for those with a supercharger or turbocharger.. The snorkel also helps reduce the total amount of dust intake to the system since it raises the intake higher. It doesn't really help much for the Mall Crawler.......but it looks cool. ---ish.

Re: Snorkel & Waterproofing for 73-87 K30
Out here in the west, in the mountains, getting into deep water where a snorkle is needed is very rare. We don't have lazy rivers or swamps to go play in, thank goodness. I would have to try to ford the Arkansas river if I wanted to be deep enough to need it. Problem is anything that deep around here is fast moving. Fast enough to wash the said truck in question down river.
So to me seeing a truck around here with a snorkle makes me laugh. It's the truck equivalent of a dude walking around a snorkle and goggles on no where near a body of water. If you are in an area with a lot of deep stuff to go through, by all means run it. I'll never need one out here that's for sure.

But, I do think a surf board would look cool on your Blazer

Re: Snorkel & Waterproofing for 73-87 K30
Yeah, that's not happening anytime soon! I tried a paddle board at the lake this last summer and put on quite the comical show for the group. I can balance well enough to ride a unicycle, but trying to get up on that board with my tonnage wasn't happening.
I do have a Con-Ferr rack Larry and I found at the end of a trail near Aspen a couple of years ago. That's going up top for sure.
