"What goes around comes around"
Very true, thats why you should respect the law even if you have an issue with authority figures. Being a cop is probably one of the hardest jobs to perform well and they usually contribute to the community in a big way on the job and off. Far more than your average Joe. Sometimes it's forgotten they're people too.

Washington DC has cameras at signals, and have also been accused of tactics including shortening the duration of the yellow light to catch more people and get more revenue. The city of Austin, Tx has admitted to shortening the duration of yellow lights at signals in order to trap more people running red lights. I have lived here in Tx for more than 2 years now, and the area I live in (Irving/Coppell/Carrolton) is very safe. I have never seen the police in my area doing anything but sitting at stop signs of hiding at intersections. The police in Coppell don't drive cop cars, they drive 2003 Tahoes! One cop per truck too! I wonder how much that costs tax payers? I have been pulled over for going 37 in the 35, and all the cop did was ask me to see my documents, and after he was satisfied I met his requirements he told me I was lucky!
When I still lived in Buffalo, NY I was pulled over for running a red light in a suburb named Lackawana(sp?). I swore it was still yellow, the cop(parked 50 yards away in a lot on the side of the street by the way) said it was red, and then said regardless of what color it was, I accelerated when it turned yellow, and gave me some crap about a law saying at every intersection, regardless of the color or the light, drivers are supposed to take their foot off the gas and "hover" it over the brake pedal. What a crock! And then when I went to court, the judge decided that since I had a previous speeding ticket almost 2 years before that, I should have to pay double the fine! Yes, the judge made me pay double because he felt like it! I had to take one of those classes to get it off my record, and I met 3 other drivers, all pulled over at the same red light as I was, by a cop parked in the same place as the cop was when I was pulled over. In my experience, we're treated like cows, and the cops are the ones milking us.

One thing I liked about Europe is that the lights go from red to yellow to green. Your basically expected to start rolling as soon as that light goes yellow. Generally they drive pretty foolishly and the decreased margin for error makes for some ugly scenes. I saw more accidents in 6 weeks than I've seen in the past 5 years at home. They sure know how to use lanes properly though.

This reminds of a past post where the kid was mad cause the cop wrote him for 85 in a 55 zone, 'but I was only going 78!'
Kinda like-'the cops said I shot that guy 6 times, I only shot him twice' ![]() The way the post sounds, the wife failed to control her speed as she approached the signal and may have made a mistake or the cop may have made a mistake. You failed to repair an equipment violation that u obviously knew about(tint), and one or both of u failed to remember to put a required document inside the car (ins). If your post would have said your wife was injured by another driver that ran a red light, I would have given you and your family my thought and prayer. But for this post, son-life is too short to fret over the small stuff. Take care of your business and keep on truckin! ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's one to cheer u up! Parking Tickets: I went to the store the other day. I was only in there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out there was a damn motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said, "Come on, buddy, how about giving a guy a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a pencil-necked-nazi. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having bald tires! So I called him a piece of horse poop. He finished the second ticket and put it on the car with the first... then started writing a third ticket! This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. I didn't give a damn -- my car was parked around the corner...

in a couple states those cameras to catch speeders and red light runners are conciterded "unconstitutional" and now lmc has a licence plate protector that only allows the # to be shown from the ground directly behind the car

I have had good and bad experiences with city cops and highway patrolmen.
Thanksgiving night when i was 16, i got pulled over doing about 80 in a 65mph zone. It was on a 4 lane road, and a highway patrolman nabbed me. Being that it was the first time i had been pulled over, i was really nervous, and un-intenitonally pulled the innocent little boy thing. And it worked, all i got was a verbal warning. I also got pulled over numerous times by city cops, but never any tickets. Most of the time they didn't even check insurance cards. Once i was in town at about 2 am, saw no one was around at the 4-way stop in the middle of town, and decided to open up the secondaries on my truck. Well, a cop was hiding on a side alley, and followed me about 2 miles OUTSIDE of the city limits on my way home before he pulled me over. He asked if i had been drinking (which i hadn't), looked at my lisence and let me go. Since he didn't get a speed reading on me, and i addressed him as "Sir" he really couldn't and didn't give me any tickets. Another time i was stoped at a 3-way stop, and a guy a know was also stopped there. He started powerbraking his truck, so of course i had to show back off and when i took off got on my truck and broke loose the rear tires. About halfway through the intersection, i saw a highway patrolman sitting there. So, i sped up since he was behind me, and took off down a dirt road. About 1/2 a mile down the dirt road i see a dust cloud coming towards me. The a$$hole followed me, and punched it up to about 75 on a gravel road to pull me over, then started yelling at me for driving on the wrong side of the gravel road (of course there are no sides to the gravel road). Then he asked to see my lisence, and i took off my seatbelt to get out my wallet. After looking at my lisence, he then accused me of not wearing my seatbelt! I got off with a $80 fine for not staying in the right lane.....really pissed me off. Not because i got the ticket, but becase the cop went off on one of those power trips where they think they have some god given right to treat people like ****, yell, and cuss. If i was treated him badly, i could undrestand, but when you keep your hands in plain view, address them with "sir", and stay in a good mood, it isn't right.

Anyone who doesn't like cops, just try to imagine the world without them. All of you with nice trucks, are you willing to kill someone to keep them from stealing them? Because I assure you they are willing to kill you to take it from you.... and everything else you own and everyone you love too....
My daughter is a cop and I worry about her every day but I am also extremely proud of her and thankful there are people like her in the world who are willing to risk their lives on a daily basis so lazy slobs like me can own things. If you don't like cops, think really hard about anarchy, how would it be if a gang of hoodlums decided they like your house and want to live there? So anyway......I need to go take my meds now!!! ![]()

I don't have a problem with law enforcement in general.....
I just hate the fact that they can issue me a ticket and take my money ![]() And some do abuse their powers, and act like there is a 3' long rod in their a$$. But i suppose if i were to deal with some of the stuff that they have to deal with, i might act like that too.
